Sampling app for the ipad(nice and free)

Post by csteen »

It is called samples and is free in the app store.
You can record 100 samples into it up to 30 seconds each and then trigger them like you would with a novation launchpad.
It could use some feature tweaks but it works great as is.
Audiobus compatible.
I found it while browsing through the newest apps listed on the Audiobus in fact.
This thing triggers really great could easily be set up with drum loops and synth phrases ect.
The pro version which I have not tried yet is only $3.99 but I so far can't find out what the pro version offers. It appears to be some sort of looping feature.
I can not wait to play with this some more. :D
It is free and if you are looking for an extremely easy to use sampler, this is your app to try..

You should have a look at Protein Der Klang. It has a ton more options plus timestretching and some FXs. It is great for performance and testing out loops playing together. You can have up to 12 loops playing at the same time.

Yes, that one definately looks interesting. Thanks

Edit: watched some demo's and must say this must beone of the most interesting performance samplers I've come across for the iPad. Very, very interesting app

iTunes clearly states what is included in the pro version:

If you want more, the PRO pack is for you. It includes the following features:
- AudioCopy/AudioPaste/General Pasteboard support: easily import samples from other apps, or even export what you've recorded in Samples
- iTunes file sharing support: import samples from your computer via iTunes, easy as drag'n'drop
- Looping: turn any pad into a looping pad
- And many more will be added in the coming updates!

Apparently there's no sample editing feature currently.

It does realtime pitchshifting but not timestretch.

A couple of other very cool, creative samplers are SampleWiz and Samplr. I highly recommend these

Protein der klang looks really good and I am going to give it a try as soon as they update it so that it can be used as an audiobus output instead of just input. I cant wait to try it with several of my ios synths then.
