VST Hardware not found

Post by Chaos27 »

Recently I have a problem that I just don't understand why I got it. When I load the VST plugin it says "hardware not found". I don't know why it says that. My keyboard is connecting through usb, midi in and out, stereo out into interface. Everything is working properly but I always get that nasty message. I've tried reset to factory same problem. Has anyone experience and how to fix this?

Try installing the latest version of the USB-MIDI driver and see whether that helps. Version 1.14 revision 8, 7/11/2013

http://korg.com/SupportPage.aspx?productid=413

Also, check the settings on your DAW to make sure that the M50 is showing as an available MIDI controller.

I had it update to the latest driver 1.14. It still shows "Korg USB-Midi Driver is not installed". It is installed! Standalone mode gives the same error.

Have you configured the driver? It is a separate step after installation. Go to Korg in the Start menu and go to Configure Korg USB driver.

I opened the Editor. I cancelled the scanning process. Under Global Settings, the Utility drop down menu shows the M50 listed. Checked that. Opened Editor again.. Same error. Not sure what to do next.

Which DAW are you using? Are there any settings within that software that could affect the program's ability to see the M50?

Also, you say that the problem exists in standalone mode. You're running a 64 bit OS. As per Bald Eagle's comment, make sure you have configured the driver using the utility so that it operates under the x64 architecture. The configuration utility is not part of the editor software. It is a separate program.

Try to access the M50 using another program like MIDI-OX. It's useful for trouble shooting and other things plus its free.

The M50 works fine inside Cubase. I can record mid and audio, but I can't load the VST it's going to give me the error. The error is both standalone and inside Cubase.

I have it set to both 32bit and 64bit. I'll change it to 64bit and see if change.

What I think is happening is a 32/64 bit problem. The Korg USB driver can operate in either 32 bit mode or 64 bit mode but not both at the same time. So if you start one app that uses the driver in 64 bit mode no 32 apps will work.

Korg has known about this for a long time but has not fixed it. There isn't any work around that I know of. For me when I start Sonar 64 bit none of the Korg software that I use will work. They have to fix their driver or provide 64 bit versions of their apps. I don't anticipate a fix anytime soon if ever.

The editor does not function properly within a 64 bit application - even with bridging software (e.g. JBridge). However, the OP reports that the "hardware not found" error is also showing up in standalone mode. The editor, being a 32-bit app, should be located within the Programs (x86) folder and should function as expected when in standalone mode. This is why I suspected the USB-MIDI driver.

I'm running 32bit in both DAW and standalone VST. I installed everything in the x86 folder. It was working fine until just last week I started seeing this error popping up. I have no idea why. I'm going to try to do a factory reset again and see if it will work.

I forgot one more thing. When I open the Editor it does give me the error this time it says "M50 Hardware not found. Rescan all the MIDI devices?" I just ignore this.

So the Editor is searching for "Pro14MIDI -> "Pro14MIDI" - I suspect this is how I got my MIDI set up knowing that my interface is a Saffire Pro 14. But I just cancel this process. I go under global settings and under Utility I do see Pro14 Midi and M50 listed. Which one do I choose?

Ok well.. I did found "M50 hardware" under device manager but I do not see the "Korg USB-MIDI" listed under there. I am sure it is installed.

Finally fixed the error. But no sound. I think I had installed the standalone and the VST in the same folder which gave me the error. I removed them and installed it over in their own location and the error was gone. But again no sound now. This is weird.
