Zero 8 with Thunderbolt-to-Firewire

So I'm trying to plot my live performance gear roadmap over the next few years, and it seems pretty obvious my next laptop isn't going to have any flavor of built-in Firewire. So ...

Has anybody tried the Zero 8 with the Apple Thunderbolt-to-Firewire adapter cable? If so, please share your results!
