Strange issue playing MP3 files

I have a PA3X-61 and am finding a very strange behavior when I try to play MIDI files in Song Play mode.

If I just open the MIDI file and push the play button, the timer runs but it doesn't make any sound.

If I stop it and move the RT/ACC or MP3 VOL slider at all, then try playing again, it works fine.

I haven't changed any global settings or defaults for Song Play mode, and the 2 sliders stay right in the middle.

Anyone have any ideas?

I think this is a fault (or "designed feature as Microsoft would put it )
It seems that the MP3 vol slider defaults to "0" so you have to move it first (no matter what position it is already in)
