new PA3x vs old PA3x = the winner is ....

Post by fResH_ »

I have noticed a difference in the new built pa3x compared to the old ones in a good way. Keep in mind the one I tested is not more then 1 - 2 month old.

What I have noticed in the new built pa3x is this following:

1. The POP sound when you press on standby is now gone!
2. When its on standby, you will not hear any "SSHHHHHHHHHH" sound from it.
3. Some buttons, ex the standby button is of better quality. The buttons edges is of plastic.
4. And it works faster then the old pa3x.

KORG have improved this aspects in the keyboard. that is great. but

Its only sad for us that have the old one, to be the beta testers

How do I tell which version I've got?

I guess it's a new built as I never experienced any 'pop' or 'shhh'.

I have a very very low Serial number Pa3X and it doesn't pop or make noise.

Unless it's plugged into an Power Amp / Mixing Desk and they are turned up. As is the exact same story with every other keyboard and sound module I own.

As for speed, I've seen many many Pa3X's and I've yet to see any difference between any of them.

Sharp.

Yea, sorry for my poor explenation. Here is a clarification.
Did u think i ment pop sound from the speakers or?

I dont mean pop sound that is comming from speakers after hitting standby, with anything like power amb / mixer involved.
The pop/click sound in the keyboard when u turn off/stanby button.

And the electrony "schh/bzzz sound"
Put you ear near the pa3x and u can hear that when its on stanby.

Thanks.

Any chance that your cable a bit loose?

It happened to me before. When first plug my 3X to speakers, I heard buzzing. I changed my cables and killed the buzz.

It,s not about any cable, It,s the Unit it self!

Bad components, or something .

I,m changing mine this week, and i will put examples from them.

Are you using balanced cables?

The difference can be significant.

Mate, I'm still confused with 'balanced', 'unbalanced', and 'Stereo'.

But yes, I guess. my 1/4" plugs are mono though, not stereo like it is in you pict. Should they be stereo?

These are not stereo = they are balanced (TRS)
You need one for left and one for right. (Output ports 1&2 are also balanced capable)
PA3X audio ports are "balanced/unbalanced" capable.

I experienced hiss and noise in the past (since PA1XPro days) and have since always used balanced cables - problems solved for me.
This may help...

I can't hear the buzzing because there is none. No popping either.
My Pa3X serial number is number 000009, so it's one of the first off the line.

OK, I'll wait for your video. For now I'm just treating Balanced as a different issue.
