Question: Have you recorded this with the M50-88 weighted?
I have the M50-61. The weighted keyboard I use is a Yamaha M08. I suggest you download the free pack and try it out for yourself. Tone and key touch is a personal preference. And people use many different controllers. So I can't predict exactly how the programs will sound and feel for you, in your studio.

So download the free pack and try it out for yourself. There's a good cross-section there, so you can get a good sense of whether these pianos are for you.

And if $49 is too much for you, I don't mind if you use the free pack for real work (including commercial work). It's not a demo - it's an actual free pack that you can use for your own music if you want.

Kim Lajoie wrote:I've designed some pianos for the M50!

It's a collection of 23 programs and 33 combos covering a range of sounds:
- Concert grands
- Studio pianos
- Hyped modern pianos
- Effected and magical pianos
- Broken and distorted pianos

The 23 programs and 33 combos have a regular price of $49, but I'm offering an introductory price of $39 until December 1st.

Check it out if you want better pianos!

Hi Kim. I downloaded your sample pianos and especially like the Lush Grand. However, when I loaded the sample pack I lost all of the original Combi and Program banks except the pianos. How is the best way to load them so everything isn't erased or the original factory settings are overwritten?

Thanks for your help

There are a few different options.
1) You can play the sounds directly from a media card (without having to load them). This can be a good option if you record or play one part at a time. It's not so good if you use the sequencer or you want to assemble your own combis or edit the programs.

2) You can load the whole pack. This is a good option if you want to edit or examine the combis and programs. It's not so good if you want to keep your existing programs/combis or you want to integrate the sounds into sequences or other combis.

3) You can load individual programs or combis. This is the most flexible. It's easiest for the programs - simply load whichever ones you want to use. The combis are a bit more fiddly, but probably not as much as you might expect. Most of the combis use only one piano program (sometimes two). If you know which combi you want to load, you'll need to do something like this:
a) Load the whole pack and examine the combi that you want to use - work out which program it uses. You might want to back up your M50 memory before doing this if you have any custom programs or combis.
b) Load your original memory contents back, and then load in your desired individual combi and program. You can load them into any available memory location.
c) Edit the combi so that it points to the correct location for the program. All the other settings should be retained, so you won't have to adjust anything else.

Hope that helps!

Thanks a lot for your response Kim. I will try some of your suggestions and see if I can load one or 2 programs/combis without erasing all my total M50 sound banks. Don't know why this happened because when I downloaded and installed the Vintage Keys pack from the forum, it automatically installed into Program Bank E, starting at 096. I wanted to load the pianos also in Bank E, but I did something screwy and I just re-installed the factory presets.

You might have some difficulty if you're also using the Vintage Keys pack. If I remember correctly, the Vintage Keys pack fills up the last remaining free program locations.

Personally, I'm starting to find that I need a separate PCG for each project. There aren't enough memory locations in the M50 for everything!

Kim,

the sounds are excellent! I'm really happy with most of the pack (some of the sounds are not really relevant to what I need) thanks!

If you could use your taste in music and production background to bring about a pack that includes your m50 formulation of strings and acoustic guitar, I'd buy (if I can afford)

Thanks,

Nym
