How to create a multisample in PA3x??

This subject is as mysterious as when you put two socks in the washing machine and only find one when it's done! How in the world do you do it! I know what someone might say.."did you read the manual?" I have read the manual, advanced manual, reviewed the PA3x video and additional video's which including trying to find video's in youtube and NOTHING. Let me clarify...I understand the idea of multisample's but to create it is the "rocket science part!". Does anyone have a clear way of showing this or explaining it?? I need to make a video and post it on youtube after I figure this out. Thanks

Hey Dan

I seriously had NO IDEA how to go about this too. However I did get there purely from the manual tutorial/example.
It does require patience and a bit of "start again" learning but once you've gone through it once you'll be fine.
Grab a set of wavs for a new sound and just give it a go.

If I ever get time I will do a video.

Hey Pete....I took your advice and downloaded the Korg pa800 manual and found absolutely nothing that could help me create a multisample. What page are you referring to? I would love to know? Thanks

I really appreciate the comments but we are shooting blanks. Thoraldus...if you read my first comment you'll notice that I mentioned my review of the advance manuel and video's and everything I could find. Thanks but NEXT.

If no one shows him by making a video of this, it will be hard time for him to understand and learn. And by showing with a video it saves time of writing and understanding.

Thanks Matthew! You got the idea! Now to find someone willing...that my friend is the QUESTION.
Am I going about this wrong? I wonder? Here is the idea... When you bring up a drum kit, any key that you hit on the keyboard produces a drum sound. Now, I would like to use my own sounds and create the same idea...load my sounds and be able to hit any key to produce a different conga, guira, tambora sound. Isn't that creating a multisample or am I mistaken? Let me know. Much appreciated, guys!

Aha! You want to make a custom DRUMKIT. That's a horse of another color.

Not an expert on this, but you do need to be in a different mode within the SOUND EDIT MODE to accomplish this. I'm sure the guys here will be able to help you now. I just checked out this mode on my PA600 and was able to quickly reassign ROM samples to particular keys.

Try this. Go to Sound Edit Mode and load up a factory drumkit. Now press the MENU key and you will see DRUMKIT as a menu item. Press DRUMKIT to get into the edit mode. I'm sure you can take it from there. You'll have to have your samples loaded into RAM before you can assign them to a key of course. Have fun!

Finally figured this out! I again appreciate the comments but here is the basics of doing this. First I used Audacity (free download audio software) and created a wave file in which I added all of my custom sounds in one wave (one right after the other). I exported that file to my USB. I went to my Pa3x and using my sound + record I loaded the wav using the corner drop down arrow. When loaded, I then hit the menu button and selected the "slice" option. I checked the keys to make sure I had separate sounds coming out of each key, adjusted the numbers to make sure the sound were not overlapping and sliced it again. then I chose Write and saved it in one of my user banks, stopped the recording and bingo! Mission complete. Youtube video will be hopefully made in the near future showing this process.

Don't forget to get into the "looping" or "loop" part of it too. If you don't make loops your sounds would cut off abruptly when holding down a key. If make loops for each sample the sounds would be continuous as long as you hold down a key.

I know it needs to be done but I don't know how to do it. That's the tricky part. I hear some people use software to help then select the part of the sample to go into the loop.

I scanned the manuall and isnt.creating multi sample sounds as easy as assigning different samples to different oscilators in a soundset, and then using all the other settings to decide when to activate which sample/oscilator and how to modulate and influence the samples...

Not that hard, but i think it requires some technical insight to find out...

YES Amoo Farrokh!! You are absolutely correct!! I forgot to mention that part. When you choose the slice option after pressing the Menu key you will see bottom tabs and one of them is "Loop Edit". That will have a box that must be checked which indicates "Loop". Thanks for the clearification!
