How do you store sounds in User DK banks?
I searched the manual with no answers. When you go to store a sound or a bank in user sounds, you are only given the option of User 1 or User 2. How can you put sounds in the "DK" bank? Thanks!

You need to UNLOCK the Factory Sound write protection ...Jerry Iverson wrote:I searched the manual with no answers. When you go to store a sound or a bank in user sounds, you are only given the option of User 1 or User 2. How can you put sounds in the "DK" bank? Thanks!
Go to page GLOBAL > MEDIA PREFERENCES > MEDIA and unlock 'Factory Sound Protect'
See page 145 of the PA600 Reference Manual.

Thanks for the reply Bill, but after unchecking everything in "Media Preferences" which is unlocking styles and factory sounds, I still cannot access the "User DK" banks. It doesn't matter whether I select the drop down menu (to load a sound) or hit select which takes me to User 1, User2, and User DK. When hitting select, I can access User 1 and 2 but User DK's banks are shaded out. I am very familiar with unlocking factory sounds/styles etc. so I know that isn't the issue. Any other ideas or thoughts? Thanks!

Just what are you trying to save in the User DK? Only Drum-kits can be saved to User DK.
Assuming you have a standard PA600 (not a protected resource version) and were trying to save a drum-kit to User DK, If I were you I would do a full system restore, OS + Resources.
Here's a quick test you can do ..
1. Go to SOUND mode
2. Select Factory drum-kit "Standard Kit RX1"
3. Press Exit if not back to main sound mode page.
4. Select Write Sound from LCD screen drop-down menu
5. Press SELECT
6. Press User DK if not already selected
7. Select an empty slot
8. Press Exit
9. Press OK
10 Press Yes
You should now have a copy of the factory Drum-kit in your User DK bank. You should be able to select the copy in User DK and play the sounds on you keyboard. You should now be able to Press Menu and then Drumkit to get to the DK Editor.

Sorry Rick, don't even know where I pulled "Bill" out of.
Thank you so much for shedding light on this as I now realize DK stands for Drum Kit(s).
If I couldn't find this in the manual and of course Korg has told me to consult the manual than other than your help, I would have been lost. So again, 3 cheers for your willingness to patiently answer this. Happy New Year Rick! (formerly Bill)

By the way, my first name is William, but I've never used it as my Dad and grandfather were also named William and my dad went by the nickname Bill. So you royally freaked me out there. LOL

As mentioned before you can only save Drumkits and Percs in UserDK.
If you are trying to save let's say a piano pr any other multisample based instrument, that's not possible.
I remember I had some modded OS for my Pa800 and even with that this wasn't possible.
AFAIK you can store more sounds in the factory banks of you unlock them in global, or have different PCG if the two users are not enough.
