Regarding the Triton Taktile - it puzzles me why Korg wants to bring back the Triton name at this point, as the Triton is well out dated by now. I hope we're talking about a groove box type thing here, but would it be interesting if it features the Triton sound ROM? Perhaps if it also includes the MOSS expansion ;-)

I was thinking just the other day that it might be this year that Korg came up with a replacement for the M3. The something below a kronos but better than the kross.

That's kind of what the Krome is but minus Karma and sampling.

No, that was more of a replacement for the M50 . Which did not come stock with karma and no sampling available. The krome is essentially a revamped M50 with improved samples and a color screen with piano roll editing.
By the way I remembered that you have a griffin studio connect. I just ordered and it arrives Wednesday! I can't wait to try it out.

Well the same could be said for the M1 but the software revision was well received,Triton was a huge seller for Korg and there is still a large user base of the Triton based instruments and sounds, that perhaps korg feel there is a legacy there enough to revisit its engine and functions for software purposes like the M1 and wavestation....surely it's not just a coincidence of using the name again,or maybe we're way off the mark and it has nothing to do with the Hardware synth

I for one would never part with my Extreme,I wouldn't say it's outdated sound wise only superceded by hardware like Kronos because of what korg built into that,Oasys and Kronos are derived from Triton family of PCM.

I'd like to see a virtual instrument app for sure of the Triton rom or at least the sequencer albeit updated and expanded as a standalone app for sequencing, the Tritons sequencer was a workhorse for me back in its heyday, never underestimate the usefulness of that cue list, which korg dropped in Oasys/Kronos it would be great if korg reworked it and tweaked it in an app but with the same interface and look but taking advantage of the iPad screen, which opens up new avenues over the hardwares actual touchscreen and page options.

We'll have to wait and see

The Kronos is the replacement for the M3. It's certainly not the same market segment as the OASYS. Rather, it seems to straddle both sides of the line.

I don't really think there is much room in the market for something between Kronos and Krome, Korg would only really be mostly cutting in to their base of customers who would probably go for the Kronos or Krome.

Anyway,
Triton Taktile could be interesting. Triton workstations never exactly had many hands on controllers, for sound design nor sequencing. Just the joystick and those four knobs. If it can act as a controller for Triton too that would be awesome!

But I'm wondering if this will be a DAW like the MPC Renaissance (or Maschine), with the Triton sound engine. Or a virtual instrument. Or hopefully both. But I'm happy with my DAW, I'd rather just have a plugin version of the Triton Rack.

TBH I have mixed feelings about the Triton HI engine anyway, the filters were more than a bit weird. Not necessarily unpleasant (except definitely at hi-res), but definitely not very conventional. Main reason why EDS and HD-1 seem to me better for actual raw synthesis.

I remember hearing or reading some where Korg could reproduce their old gear, but due to software piracy they didn't release it.

Maybe it is a USB device that can act as the security and input device and then they can release the Triton as a plug in.

i wish the current versions worked as Avid AAX plugins.

"There are 512 different sounds and they can be edited using the slider so you can adjust thing like the effects, envelope and filter settings."

Except that you can't save those settings. They're all lost when you turn it off. You also can't load new sounds, so you had better really like the ones on it because they're the only ones you're ever going to get on it.

Unbelievable, I know, but you can't make up this s**t.

"It is not possible to store the settings of changed parameters to the memory. If a program is changed, the unit will return to the initial settings that are set to each program." Page 4.

This is the Triton TakTroll. Here are 512 sounds that you can edit. Wanna save them? Wanna load more? ha ha ha ha ha....got you good. You've been TakPunked, or Punktiled, or TriTrolled. Can edit but not save the edits. That's a great prank. Oh wait, you're serious. s**t. Who can even think up this kind of thing? seriously. That's messed up, it is. It's not April 1st. I had to just check to be sure.
