Importing SF2 soundfonts into Korg TR
Does anyone have a step-by-step for getting an SF2 soundfont file from computer to a Korg TR that has sample RAM installed, but no sampling upgrade?
You need to use a 3rd party program to convert the SF file into a keymap and appropriate samples.
Then put on a card and load into the keyboard. You only need to load the KMP (KeyMaP) and the KSF (Korg Sample Format) files will be loaded by it automatically - provided that they stay in the right folder relative to the KMP file.
Then you need to build a program that uses those samples.
For the conversion, a popular program is the AWave Studio sample conversion program.

Too much work.
Has anyone tried using Chicken Systems Translator to bring an SF2 sound "fully formed" into a TR? Would that work? And if so, does the file stay about the same size? That is, if I have a 15 mb soundfont and use the translator to get it into a Korg with 16 mb RAM, is that likely to work, or is the original size not necessarily a good indication of the amount of space you'll need on the receiving end of the translation?

Hi,
I would like to do the same thing. I have found some very good Rhodes samples in SF2 format and now I'd like to get them into the TR. The problem is that I don't know how the resulting structure should look like. When I open the SF2 file in Awave Studio I get one instrument with 5 layers. However, when I save this file in Korg format and open the saved KSC file, I get 5 instruments instead (each instrument has one layer). I assume this isn't the way it's supposed to look like. Or is it? Can I have all the layers or must I get rid of one in order for it to work? The reason I ask is because I've bought Piano 2 by K-sounds and when I open one of the included KSCs in Awave Studio, I see two instruments each of which has 2 layers. Is this the kind of structure I'm supposed to follow?
Many thanks!

Did you ever get the ksounds Piano 2 on your TR?
I think the ksounds samples or patches are very realistic. I'd like to try them on my TR88.MinorKey wrote:Hi,

I think the mp3 demo sounds great....but not sure about how it actually comes out on the TR given it's limited effects transfer.
