my pa800 fail to load restore package

Post by mustaf »

Hi all,,
I have problem with my pa800, I will describe it as follow:
1. I do a format for pa800 using intro1 and power on, and gives me a restart message.
2. When I rebeat the intro1 and power on, it gives me the usb screen to select the os restore pkg and I select it, it start load giving me message please wait.. and suddenly the screen goes blank.

When I restart the pa800 again with intro1 and power it gives also a blank screen. after 3-4 hours I restart the pa800 using intro1 and power on it gives me usb screen and abling to select the resetore file but it gives me the same as I describe in point 2.

If I restart pa800 without intro1 it gives me black screen with message usb enabled at the above of the screen and OS not present below.

Please advise and help me to solve this problem.

After applying Pa800_os_res_v203.zip , Pa800 internal SSD (USB Stick) has been formatted and there is no OS or
any data included there , so the right next step is Power on + Intro1 and applying Pa800_res_v203.zip from
http://www.korgpa.com/support/products/ ... tware.html
If second step fails then you face hardware issue and you must visit service center.

Probably yes , service will inform you for details.
If you really want my prognosis then report the issue reason that led you to format your Pa800 !

Hi mustaf

From the PMs you have been sending me, it looks like you are using the wrong file.

For full factory reset download http://www.korgpa.com/images/stories/sw ... s_v203.zip
and follow the instructions.

Then if you are still having problems, like Anthony says, you may have a hardware problem and might need to get Korg service to check it out.

Indeed , no other file than http://www.korgpa.com/images/stories/sw ... s_v203.zip
is needed to reset and restore factory resources anymore.
I was stacked at the old status that reset file and resources were in separate files for Pa800 ! I still own them stored !

Hi,
The main cause that led me to format my pa800 was updating os from v201 to v203. Before 2 days of formatting while I playing on pa800, suddenly all bottons on keyboard stopped while I can hear the sound that I was play with a continuose sound like zzzzzzzzz . I restarted the pa800 a noise sound go louder and louder from speakers. Then I powered it off. The day after I powered on and play normally without any problems. When I finished playing I remembered what happened the day before and I said why not to update my pa800....hhhhhhh and you know the rest of story.

Hhmm ... this looks like internal System SD that is mounted on motherboard that might be corrupted !
Another occasion could be the internal board Ram , only in case of a kind of a short circuit in buffer modules , remember to
mention both cases to service leader since you can't do it yourself !
Also there is no case of update issue , this is an already existing malfunction that happened when system was frozen !

Difficult situation !
First of all you need a technician's support since it's too risky to try it alone !
- Unplug Ram from mobo socket temporary in case that a malfunction of ram prevents booting.
- If Pa800 still fails to boot then you have to proceed at mobo's replacement !
All actions must be take place by a technician's support as I've mentioned !

Let us know about your actions , for further advices !

Good luck

Hi,,
I bought a new usb stick 4G and I copied the restore pkg to it. It worked and the pa800 restarted normally, I played piano for 10 min. While playing a noisy loud sound rises from speakers. I powered it off and restarted it again, it gives korg p800 on the screen then the screen goes blank.

Advise.

Thnx

Can you enter in Bios menu Power+Intro 1 ?
If Yes , then reload resources and try again
Also do not close cover , leave screws away for a while since you have many thing to do there !
If bios still fails , then go to next step and try to find Ram socket I think is on second upper CPU board , carefully eject
Ram board temporary and retry !
Your extreme attention to all cable sockets not to be loosen or unplugged !

Dear Antony thank u for your patience. But I want to tell you that when I say "I used a 4Gb usb stick" I mean that I copied the os restore file to a new external usb stick and use usb ports in the pa800 normally and its ok without replacing that one which on the motherboard. Just saying this to let all actions clear. Proceed with you mentioned abov. With ram???

Thank you for advising..

That's why you need a technician's support !!!
You have to open Pa800 , disassemble motherboard cover and eject ram temporary else you have to purchase
a new main board.
