Win7 X64 No USB MIDI Ports - Solved

Post by royleith »

Lots of folk seem to have this problem, so I give my short solution based on a number of other threads.

Go to Control Panel and uninstall the KORG MIDI driver tool. After installing the latest MIDI driver tools from the KORG support pages, run 'Install KORG USB-MIDI Device' with the KORG instrument or controller connected.

When the successful installation is confirmed, start up a DAW and check that the USB MIDI ports are available. If not, run the Uninstall KORG USB-MIDI Device.

This will display all of the installed MIDI ports in Win7.

I found four 'corrupted' drivers. Delete the corrupted drivers and ensure that no more than 10 other drivers are installed.

Run 'Install KORG USB-MIDI Device' again with the KORG instrument or controller connected.

Finish the program. Run 'Uninstall KORG USB-MIDI Device' again and ensure that the KORG driver is in the last entry (and in position 9 or less) and, if so, cancel the program.

Try the DAW again and the KORG MIDI ports should now appear.

If this is all old news, forgive me. I have just bought a padKONTROL and I don't want anyone else to panic as much as I did!

Also worked for me.
Took me two days of frustration to get my padKontrol working with both ProTools 10 and the stand-alone editor.

Korg Taktile

Nice to read info on that; just bought a Taktile and it works on 1 PC/3... Doesn't work on Win 7 64 neither 8.1 64 Asus ROG but works on a old Dell 8.1 64 .. So I'll try your method; For sure, I've got a lot of other controllers and MIDI interfaces, try with a nanoPad, same issue in fact.

Hello all tAktileons I was able to work through the above fixes however I have a problem where the Taktile will start to play notes and other midi events but in less than a minute the Taktile hangs or stops functioning.

I should point out that the Taktile works perfect on my old HP Desktop but my somewhat newish notebook seems to. It like the TAktile. Anyone know a trick or two I could try or something I may be overlooking.

Korg USB Device Drivers

Many thanks for these tips. It's inexcusable that KORG don't publish them themselves. You've saved my blood pressure going into dangerous levels again. :D

The only reason I registered in the forum is to say a big
THANK YOU!!!

After 3 days of suffering with Taktile triton, it finally worked.

After my experience with Novation Impulse, I thought that every controller of that kind would work as smoothly as Impulse. Wrong...

Korg should try harder in this field
