Krome - Sustain Damper

Post by spongybear »

Hello, guys.

I have connected a sustain damper to my krome and somethings unexpected happened. When I hold down my damper, play a chord and release my hand, and then play more notes, the sustain effect of the chord disappears!

This occurs when I played 30~40 notes after I played the chord. I remember that the polyphony of krome is 120 for single mode and 60 for double mode.

I just cant figure out what's the cause and please help me  .

(and sorry for my poor English..

Hi,
Are you sure, you edit the Damper Pedal Polarity in Global mode?

Thanks for your reply :)
Yes I am sure. As the Damper is produced from Korg and it works well without changing the polarity (-). However the problem still exists no matter which polarity it is.

You could be playing a program that has more than two oscillators going at once. In prg mode using layer for each of the two oscillators you can play 4 oscillators at once. That means only a bout 30 notes total. Or it could be 3 osc (40 notes.).

As roger said above, there is a limit to how many voices the Krome can sustain. I noticed this a while back myself. Not sure what other keyboards can sustain, but I'm betting most digital keyboards have a limit.

If I play a sustained chord with my left hand, sustain pedal, release left hand, as you play the right hand, you can hear the notes from the left hand eventually 'disappear'.

Believe it or not, you can get around this by holding your left hand (for instance) down on the keys. They will continue to play indefinitely, however, whatever notes you were playing on your right hand won't sustain forever, but that's less noticeable.

Exactly! When I chose double oscillator mode, the damper only holds 30 notes. The situation is better when I choose single mode.

Thanks roger and jnaut and mpaul :D
