Newbie save edits questions

Post by -Pv- »

The bits of pages scattered around the Quick Start and Operation Guide as well as what I've read here and elsewhere confuse me concerning several issues regarding saving.
I have a Compact Flash in the Triton Extreme drive and I created a directory on it so the keyboard appears to be able to access the drive OK.

Working through the Quick Start I get instructions for saving the edits I made to the example and I get referred to other pages for saving which cause me to scratch my head.

1) I'm having trouble understanding when and why I should or should not write to internal memory and when I should write to external. The bits and pieces scattered around on what the Triton saves and does not save is too confusing. I need some practical examples.

2) How can I tell when I'm over-writing factory data? I don't want to do that at this early stage.

3) I'm having troubles understanding when I should be making some kind of global save of everything or just the sequences and patches associated with a program, combination and/or a recorded song(MIDI sequence.)

3) I'm not trying to save samples yet, so don't need help with that at this time.

Thanks
