Can't load EXPCM01-4: "No Medium"

Post by Markus065 »

Hello,

I just installed a Korg EXB M256 memory expansion board which shows up in the M3 Expanded start-up screen as installed, and also shows up as 100% free under RAM2 on the Media/EX-USB PCM tab.

I'm trying to load EXPCM01 - 4 (from the internal SD card), but when I highlight them and press Load, I just get a message that says "No medium".

Please does anyone have any pointers? I can't find an answer by searching the forum.

**Update** Since posting, I think the M3 is trying to load from a non-existent USB drive. Do I need to point the system to the internal SD card? (P.S. I tried downloading the EXPCM01-4 files from Korg but the links seem to be dead :-(

Thanks in advance!

Mark.

Yes, the UK Korg site is dead. Everything is now at the Korg.com site. I'll give a link below.

I'm going to guess that the samples aren't copied to the internal SD card by the sound of this.

You have a couple of options:

A). Put the EX-USB-PCM04 on a USB stick in the root directory. From there the M3 will recognise the expansion samples and you can load them directly from the USB stick.

B). Copy the files onto your SD card if there is enough available space on it. The easiest way to check if there is space and copy the file(s) over is to put the M3 in USB Storage Mode (note: The Korg USB driver must be installed on our computer):
  • 1. Turn off the M3 and connect a USB cable to the USB Port B on the back panel and connect this cable to your computer.

    2. Next, press and hold the SEQ and EXIT buttons whilst simultaneously turning on the M3.

3.The internal SD card should show up as a removable drive.

    4. Check available space and/or copy the files over.
A much more involved process for putting the samples on the SD card by opening up the M3 is here: http://karma-lab.wikidot.com/korg-m3:ex ... to-2-gbyte

To download the file(s) you will need from the Korg.com site, you can get them here: http://i.korg.com/SupportPage.aspx?productid=280 << Click on the Soundware header and scroll down.

HardSync - Wow! Thanks for the quick (and comprehensive) reply!

I followed your recommendations in option A and I'm happy to say that worked, so thanks again.

I will try option B tonight to see what size the SD card is. As the M3 is out of warranty I might try replacing it with a suitable (fast) 1Gb card if it's too small.

And thanks for the links btw!

Best Regards,
Mark.

AkerVoldark - all those files are available for download at the Korg site link posted by HardSync above. Can you download those?

HardSync - your advice was very helpful. I have only a 256Mb SD card, so I will follow the procedure to upgrade that.
