No sound from microphone

Hi everyone

I'm trying to sing into the M3 to sample or put through effects for live performance. I can't get any sound from the mic at all.

It's a dynamic mic - no battery.

I've followed advice from the forum:
- tried input 1 and 2
- rear switch set to mic
- adjusted the gain
- in 'sampling/audio in' page, turned off global setting, bus select changed to L/R

Any help much appreciated!
