Hello,
Does the TR rack sound the same as Trinity? Are the sound banks different? And more importantly, does the rack version have the same sort of digital warmth as the Trinity seems to have?
Thanks.
Trinity vs. TR rack?

Hi, TR-Rack is the same as a bog-standard Trinity. However it also has an additional 8mb of raw waveform data taken from the 'best of' PBS-TRI expansion option soundsets. Unlike the extra PBS board for Trinity, though, you cannot alter or upload new multisamples to it.
Also bear in mind the TR-Rack does not support Moss or Solo, either, and you are unable to upgrade it to do so.
But otherwise, yes, you can load all the standard Trinity patches into it and it should sound identical to the Trinity, and of course you have those extra 8mb of samples that the stock Trinity doesn't have.
If you are using a PC and MIDI interface, you can use the free program Trinitro to act as a very capable PCG librarian and editor for the TR-Rack.

I've got the PBS-tri installed unto mu pro-x, and I never knew that I have some extra waveforms whith it, where I could find the list of this waveforms, couse I'd like to go to tr-rack instead of my pro-x,but I'would not like to lose any patches. I'm afraid some of my patches could use this additional waveforms which is lack in tr-rack.Timo wrote:Hi, TR-Rack is the same as a bog-standard Trinity. Given that the PBS-TRI uses 8mb of ROM that can be flashed, the extra waveforms depend on whatever you've flashed into it at any one time. There are lots of different sample sets available for the PBS, and of course you can load in your own samples too.philip wrote:I've got the PBS-tri installed into my pro-x, and I never knew that I have some extra waveforms, where I could find the list of these waveforms
The standard stock Trinity multisample waveforms go from 000 (A.Piano) to 374 (Birds 2), and the drumsample waveforms go from 001 (BD-Dry 1) to 258 (Amp Noise). So anything beyond those numbers would be waveforms from the PBS (that is if you have anything uploaded into it).Timo wrote:There are 9 or 10 official PCM sets in total for the PBS-TRI expansion option (if installed on a Trinity keyboard).
These are:
TFD-1S - Mega Pianos
TFD-2S - Orchestral Elements
TFD-3S - Dance Waves & Drums
TFD-4S - Best of M1
TFD-5S (also called PCM 03) - The Groovebox
TFD-6S (also called PCM 04) - Techno & Trance
Brass
Organs
Garage, Jungle & Hip Hop
(I'm unsure of the last three TFD/PCM name/numbers).
I also think there is another further set called "The Groovebox 2".
There are also additional sets from the Korg Italy site. I'm unsure if these are the sample sets already mentioned just under a different name or whether they are new/different.

In the TR-Rack's case, however, the extra 8mb of waveforms are fixed and therefore can be found here.
It's always a risk, given that the PBS can use any samples you want, while the TR-Rack's extra 8mb of samples are fixed.couse I'd like to go to tr-rack instead of my pro-x,but I'would not like to lose any patches. However due to the rarity of the PBS, most PCG sets available generally tend to use the standard stock Trinity waveforms, unless you've loaded in special PCGs for any particular PBS sets.
