Very fest SSD and fest CPU saves u time, so because of that u can do more work in the same time. I think it is a huge adventige.NuSkoolTone wrote:Fine. For me they're $1k for a 1TB/1GB/s.BobTheDog wrote:Not the first time that cpus have been user upgradeable on MacPros, 2009 and on models are user upgradeable.
How much to you think 1TB PCIe 1GB/sec drives are? Maybe you should do a search.
Since I don't need that kind of throughput (I do audio afterall) It's half that for the SSD I would get.
Truth be told(and admittedly this is apples and oranges) , so long it's quiet I could do fine with 7200 rpm/64mb cache for a whopping $60. Though these days I don't buy that small anymore. I could get 4TB of the same spec. Make it two of them for $500 and not only do I have 4x the storage, I have full raid redundancy which if you do pro work is a must. I have yet to a have a modern hard drive not keep up with a project even running a solid 100 tracks as drool worthy SSD is. Though next machine will have that for boot disk!
So even if u do Microsoft Word u will benefit from very fest SSD and top of the line i7 CPU.

I couldn't watch that on my phone but I'm going to assume you would only post it if it showed the Mac being faster so let's say I did watch it and it showed that. For what it's worth, I just want to say it's not the performance of the machine I've argued. It's the price and impractical form factor (for me).

+1. Also rarely does the current software take advantage of "Bleeding edge" tech anyway. And then there's the compatibility issues with legacy that apple is notorious for...SanderXpander wrote:I couldn't watch that on my phone but I'm going to assume you would only post it if it showed the Mac being faster so let's say I did watch it and it showed that. There is a difference between saying it is good and and say it is good, but why.
I posted a link only to the final video where he does generic benchmarks, but u can whatch the previouse videos where he build computer and explain all steps.
P.s. If some people do not agree with something put arguments and we will have discussion, and also this is a porpous of a forum where people in nice and polite way share their thoughts. It is not a goal to make all people like ur thouths and be the same as u. We are all different and this is a beauty of humans.

Maby they did it because of cooling and therefor to kepp it noisless?SanderXpander wrote:I cannot help but think now incredibly much cheaper, smaller and cooler (literally, degrees cooler) this could be if they just mounted dual Mac Pro mobos directly into a custom 2U rack. Not that I want to keep Sonnet from making 800 bucks of course

Doesn't seem likely. Whatever cooling is inside the Mac Pro chassis could be mounted directly to a rack enclosure, which would also act as a giant heatsink. The way it's done now it's more an extra layer of insulation keeping heat in than anything else.
But I dunno, I suppose if you completely disregard price it's a convenient way to just click it in (and out) when needed.

Yesterday i got a new Mac Pro, the base model!!!
Supper silent and supper fast!!
P.s.
Looks like fantastic computer but i did not test it for music production yet.
Also i got NEC PA272W for my main monitor.
Never though i could get NEC monitor because they were very expansive and more expansive even then Apple display.
But i got it and i think it is better then Apple Thunderbolt display because it have very accurate color reproduction, mate display, and 10 bit color( which is currently not supported by OSX)
P.s. U do not need to be professional photographer to have accurate picture reproduction on professional display!!
U do not have to be professional musicians in order to have accurate sound reproduction on studio monitors!!
