I know there's no straightforward/supported way to get new samples onto the Krome without some third-party software, but is there a way to copy samples (or really a whole program with its samples) from the Krome for use with a Korg PA-series keyboard?
I have a PA3X in addition to the Krome, which seems to have lots of wonderful voices, but its bass and keys sounds (especially acoustic piano) just don't compare to the Krome's! The 3X does have a sampler built in, so it would be great if I could import the programs and samples I want from the Krome.
Ideas, anyone?
copy samples/voices FROM Krome?

Hi msl-kybd,
The manual does not mention anything about exporting and even krome heaven does not mention it. But I guess both you know.
I would be extremely surprised, if it would be possible to export the sound samples. They are one of the main assets of Korg. Think about the unlooped piano of the Krome. Why should Korg allow that people transfer them to a workstation of another manufacturer? I can imagine if necessary they even would have spent some effort to make sure that this is not possible and I can't blame them. Even if in this case it would be between two Korg systems, once the data is in a file you could convert it into a format that could be imported into the workstation of another manufacturer.
Try another way to 'teach' your PA3X the Krome sounds. The PA3X can control the Krome via MIDI. The manual of the PA3X confirms that the keyboard of the PA3X can. I did not find if the sequencer can do this as well but I have no PA3X to try.
I apologize for writing a comment with mostly guesswork. I hate if other people do it but I hope I was of some help.
Have fun with Krome and PA3X
Regards

Well even if you do find a way to copy the krome piano and convert it to be readable on pa3x, you still won't be able to play it. It's hardware limitation, the krome has 4gb memory for the piano and uses a different type of tech.
But why don't you try sampling it? I have a friend that did so and it sounds good...It is looped but still sounds good.

Mostly because I don't know how to sample...
There are a few others on there that are really good too. The PA3X has (overall) not such great sounds for bass, EP, and piano. The "New Digital E.Piano" doesn't have any half decent equivalent on the 3X. The Krome's clavs are killer; the 3X's are very shallow. Etc.
