MIDI Problem
This is no doubt really elementary, but I cannot get my Kronos X to talk to my computer interface. My other keyboards have been plug-&-play with this particular interface, but it doesn't recognize the Kronos for some reason. Is there a parameter I need to set before USB interfaces recognize the Kronos' MIDI signal?
Many thanks!
Many thanks!
Thank you. As a first pass at using the Kronos as a MIDI source I...
* downloaded and installed the Korg MIDI driver on my Mac (BTW, I cannot find any mention of needing to install a Korg MIDI driver in the Operation Guide - after getting frustrated with my lack of progress I Googled "Kronos MIDI driver" and found out it existed)
* connected the Kronos MIDI-out to my interface's MIDI-in
* pulled up GarageBand
* tried to record from the Kronos using GBs generic piano sound
* nada
The Kronos Operation and Parameter guides' MIDI-specific information is FAR too complicated for me at this stage of my experience with the instrument. I would simply like GB to be able to receive a MIDI signal from the Kronos and then go forward from there.
Again, thank you.

I don't use GB on my imac,so can't help you with that part.
What interface are you using ?
Have you tried the usb route.....Kronos to mac ?
If you're using the 5 pin din midi out from the Kronos,it won't really need the driver and should work with any other midi device.......
It's possible that the interface or the GB settings aren't correctly set up,somehow and need further investigation / checking etc.
One thing to check is the transmit and receive channels.
There are other things as well,of course,but can be difficult to do so remotely without further info.
Trial and error time for you,at this stage.....but do return her to ask more questions.
Edit....ronnfigg has beaten me to it,with similar advice.....

I'm a 61-year-old classically-trained pianist on a pretty steep learning curve once we move beyond the "run the five-pin cord from the keyboard to the interface" stage, so I don't have any information regarding MIDI set-ups. The five-pin link is all I've ever used, so I will definitely try the USB direct-to-Mac option.
I've never had to select a source instrument in GB. How would I select the Kronos from within GB?
You guys are incredibly helpful. Thank you!

I may be beating a dead horse here, but just one more...

Here GB displays "0 MIDI input(s) detected" and does not display the button that would reset the MIDI drivers.
