MIDI Problem

Which interface are you using ?

Do all the other midi instruments work via that route ?

Is there another sequencer you can try,just to establish connections ?
(Sorry,I can't suggest one at the moment,but perhaps an internet search could provide a basic type you could use...)

I can relate to your situation regarding midi development.....I still remember times before its invention....
The midi system has exceeded its initial potential from all them years ago and currently remains to be an essential part of any set up etc.
Having usb as well,compliments the system and takes it a step further(midi over usb is quicker for large data transfer) which can include audio.

However,there's no obligation to use the usb alone and as said,I still use the din method in conjunction with usb.

Korg do have a good midi implimention,so it's probably not the cause of your problem(unless it's phyiscally broken,obviously).
We need to find someone more familiar with GB and a mac for more detailed information regarding your settings.

Don't give up......you will get answers.....

I hate to say this but I don't remember GB doing much midi, I went to logic because that was my perception. I know you can hook a midi keyboard up to GB and play its instruments but I do not think the GB will transmit any midi. Kronos should work but you may need to be in external mode transmitting basic midis values to GB. The driver has to work which is why Insuggest trying to connect to it first once that works you know the Mac sees the Kronos and cables are good. I would use USB did t to the Mac.

I used this in my mac to verify communications.
KRONOS Editor Version 2.1.0 it is on the Korg website for software for the Kronos.

Just done a quick test with GB on an imac and it does work using a Kronos.
Both via midi 5 pin din (interface) and usb.

Have a look at these.....
There are two help pages on GB.
One on the top window to the right,which is a general search.

Another is on the lower part of the screen shown as a + plus sign,which is a better version.

Go to lower part press +.

Press the ? on lower part of the next screen.

View the connect part information and choose your settings….then read anything else of interest etc.

Well done, and thank you again! I'm pretty sure after trying these things you very helpful folks have suggested that something in the interface has failed. After connecting the Kronos to my Mac directly using the USB port everything works beautifully. The interface is pretty old, so it was probably time to replace it. Thank you again! - gpb

I had a firebox interface a few mac OS versions ago it worked well but one day no joy, turns out they stopped supporting it for any newer OS versions. Now it is a paper weight. can't even give the thing away. What a shame, make sure you interface has all the latest drivers and is supported for you OS version.

Perfect advice from Bertotti again,current support plus drivers etc is very important.

As a point of interest,I still use an AMT 8 midi interface which was bought many years ago,initially for use with a pc.
It has served me well without malfunction.....but did have serious problems setting it up with an imac,initially,due to the lack of available drivers at that time.

Although it's no longer supported,I eventually found a driver that works,which is is part of the Logic software....and GB etc.(Long story....).

It is currently routed via usb into the imac and has the 8 midi (5 pin din) ports fully functional,(various keyboards attached)which I can use as a stand alone device or with Cubase.

I also use the Kronos usb route as my main midi connection,plus a new PA900 and both work fine.
(The Kronos usb audio has a serious problem though,but I think it's an imac fault which is subject to further investigation).

The trend these days is to use usb, as most newer instruments have that facillity and can be better in some way,compared to the din connection,but as said,the din method still remains to be useful, especially with older gear.
Also,usb has a higher transfer rate which becomes more important when using editors etc.
