Korg Krome editor Cubase Ableton

Post by GuidoK »

Hi,

First, I'm completely new in this, synth and DWA.

I bought a Korg Krome a week ago. I connected it with a USB cable between the Krome and my pc and I connected it also with a usb/midi cable, a cable that has an usb output at one side and two midi(in and out) outputs at the other side.

When I don't use the korg editor vst's I can play the Korg grand piano sounds in cubase 32 bit(trial) and ableton 32 bit(trial) and I have that sound coming out of the boxes of the pc.

I found out on this forum the vst pluing editor does not wrok with this programs in 64bit.

But when I open the krome editor plug in, it's found by cubase and ableton but the sound goes away, there is no sound put I can see that the DAW receives the input of the Krome.

My question is: do I need an audio interface to get sound out of the DAW when I use the korg edirot plug in or how does it work?

greetz and thanks in advance.

ps: I have something similar like this at the moment:

Hey! :)
A lot of questions have already been posted relating to this very topic, I know because I've asked the exact same question you have :)

The answer is yes, you do need an audio interface to record/play your sounds through a DAW ( Digital Audio Workstation).

You see, the Krome doesn't support audio through USB, it only transmits MIDI data. Thats why you were able to see your DAW recognising the Krome, but you're unable to produce the Krome sounds without an interface.

EDIT: This should help, do read!
