Would this stand be able to support the Kronos?
Hi guys,
I have a keyboard stand here that I have bought:
http://www.ultimatesupport.com/product/IQ-2000
The specs say that it can hold 150 lbs. and I think the Kronos is 50lbs
Correct me if I am wrong. I would like to know if the stand would be able to hold the heavy Kronos. It may seem like its obvious that it would be able to hold it but how long would it be able to hold it? I want to put the Kronos on it for a fixed setup, so I do not move it around. Would I have to bring it somewhere to make sure its in good shape?
Thanks.

Thats what I have used for +10 years for my keyboards , digital stage pianos.kronosuser3407 wrote:I really don't want to have my $4000 Kronos on the line of falling to the ground cause of a bad keyboard stand. Would anyone be able to reccomend a good keyboard stand for the studio/home use? The WS-550 seems like a good one.
There might be some attachments to the WS but I have not used them.

It would probably work but X type stands like that can get a little jiggly during playing, especially with heavier boards like the 73 or 88.
The WS type is better for that. Personally I use one of these

Which I really like.

I really don't think you'll have any problem at all. I use the next level up, an I.Q. 3000. It's rated at 300 pounds strength but I used to use a crappy Apex scissor stand for my old Triton Pro X which is an 88 key workstation.kronosuser3407 wrote:Hi guys,

Do you play sitting or standing? If you are sitting then you should not have to worry at all. If you are standing then maybe you might have to watch just how aggressively you play but other than that, I don't see a concern here and I play very aggressively.
Mind you I also have my stand modded so I have a rotating platform from my K73.
If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!

I use double brace stands both with and without a second tier and I also use a K&M Spider Pro. Other than needing to bring some small wooden shims to make up for uneven floors, I've never had any possibilities of my Kronos falling after more than 100 gigs.
For a single braced X stand, I'd be hesitant to use it for a gig, but I have used one for studio practice.

I have a double braced, double tier Quiklok stand that has been a trusty friend with both the Triton Extreme and now with an 88 Kronos. I've ran both on their with no problem, and also with a Microkorg. I have a similar setup in the studio but with a triple tier Quiklok stand but I have found that to be a little less steady, although perfectly fine overall!
I have the single "x" version of this stand and its pretty stable with my 61-key Kronos. Good enough for small gigs and a single keyboard.
For home use I have the Quiklok Z-726 (or you can get the "L" version for larger (88key) keyboards) and it has served me well. Lots of options you can add to it.

You can add side tables, mic stands, rack mounts and other stuff.

I have one of those but never seen one on wheels - is that a standard option or a custom retrofit?navydave wrote:For home use I have the Quiklok Z-726 (or you can get the "L" version for larger (88key) keyboards) and it has served me well. Lots of options you can add to it.

On-Stage Z stands are solid as a rock. I have two double tier stands and have never had any problems.
