As per the instructions!BobTheDog wrote:One thing I did find interesting when installing this, if you copy the install files via FTP to the Kronos and then try to install it doesn't work.
It only seems to work when installing from a USB stick.

It's not difficult. It's time consuming
I get it. I should have read the manual.
But considering how easy it was for me to post the 4 simple instructions, I find it annoying that nobody else was willing to do it.
You posted great instructions that were relatively easy to find on this forum. They were just missing 4 essential steps that would have made it complete instructions for those of us that didn't want to have to wade through the manual just to install a free library for testing.
Seriously, if all you're going to do is say "read the manual" why not just delete ever post and thread on this forum and just post that as the definitive answer for every question.

Great, I'm glad that worked for you!keyguy13 wrote:I get it. I should have read the manual.
I'm not sure whether that was directed at me personally, or at the forum in general. If the former: it should be clear from looking at my history on the forum that I post a great deal more than that. However, I also think it's good, when applicable, to "teach a man to fish." Many of the questions asked here are answered in the manuals, meaning that the askers had the power to find their own answers quickly, under their own power, without needing to wait for a kind soul on the net to respond. My hope is that a greater awareness of the available resources in the documentation (manuals and built-in help, as well as the instructional video) will lead to a better experience for Kronos users.keyguy13 wrote:Seriously, if all you're going to do is say "read the manual" why not just delete ever post and thread on this forum and just post that as the definitive answer for every question.

Actually it was directed at the forum in general and you specifically.
You missed my point.
It doesn't matter. I put specific instructions as a new thread so people like myself can find the information quickly without having to dig too much.
perhaps someone will make it sticky. Regardless, i did my part to actually help instead of passing the buck by telling people to read the manual. We're all capable of that. I just differ in the opinion that it should be the only source of helpful information.

Ok sorry, I realize you are new here, but I really think you're getting off on the wrong foot here. Many of us spend our free time here helping out people with questions. However, when your first two posts are "please provide detailed instructions" as if we're some kind of help desk and afterwards you complain about the information that people wrote down for you because you actually had to read a bit of the manual that is provided with your original purchase, I don't think that's very fair. I'm glad you got your issue solved. I hope you'll stick around and continue to contribute in a positive way like most of us do. We all learn from each other here.

I don't think I did, actually, but it does appear that you may have missed mine:keyguy13 wrote: You missed my point.

Re: It's not difficult. It's time consuming
So you were lazy, but you get annoyed other people are too ?! Er...keyguy13 wrote:I find it annoying that nobody else was willing to do it.
In any case, some of us took the time to reply, but why would we spend time writing a set of detailed instructions that you can find already written in a manual ?!
Obviously, if taking the time to tell you where you can find the information you're after is not good enough, then don't be surprised if nobody bothers replying to you again.
I can't believe that you both are going to continue to defend your position and not even acknowledge that you could have been more helpful.
Call it lazy if you want. Some of us prefer not to read through a large manual to find a simple bit of information.
But stick to it if you want. I went ahead and posted useful information that is complete on how to do this. Now people will not need to wade through the manual. which was my initial point and is still valid no matter how much you want to continue to tell people to just "read the manual".
I'm sure the manual is brilliant and contains all of the information I and everyone else need to accomplish anything else we might need to do with our keyboards. So we will be sure to spend the hours necessary to read it in it's entirety and memorize every last command and every menu tree so that we have a thorough understanding of it before we begin to use it.
Thanks for those wise words that were so helpful to me, when it literally took me 5 minutes to post the instructions.
When it comes down to it, I am pretty sure anyone looking for this information will appreciate what I did and resent what you continue to do.
And frankly if these are the kinds of replies that I should no longer look forward to getting, I will say I am relieved now so you don't have to feel guilty for not gracing me with your helpful and insightful responses.

Indeed, which is why the EXs manual is easy to read because "installing EXs..." is a two pages procedure with screen grabs, and "Authorizing EXs..." is a one page procedure.keyguy13 wrote:Some of us prefer not to read through a large manual to find a simple bit of information.
So it's not like we're telling you to get lost in a manual !
I guess some people are never happy, no matter what.
I was frustrated. plain and simple. I apologize for the extremely sarcastic tone of my responses.
My annoyance was less to do with you, Francois. You actually DID attempt to explain the procedure and I in fact DID appreciate it. But what was left out, was how to authorize the library, which was even more frustrating because it was just a couple more steps and would have made the instructions complete.
So, thank you for your effort.
I do realize you are volunteering your time and I apologize for being an asshole. I no longer want to continue this tirade

SanderXpander,
Yes I think I got started on the wrong foot. I don't generally start out on forums being overly critical. I do realize you are all volunteering your time and i intend to do the same as i already have.
And I am genuinely not trying to be inflammatory here, but I am just used to a higher level of service, whether it is paid for or otherwise.
I work in customer service and I believe in providing it with as much integrity as possible. And yes I am sure this comes across as self-righteous but I can't think of a better way to express it. I also won't apologize for it. If someone asks me for help, I'll either provide it or not.
So rather than just tell people to read the manual, I prefer to just answer the question and will continue to do so.

I would agree completely if this were a customer service forum.
I agree in general that it's nice if people post helpful information but again, everyone is here on his/her free time and we usually expect fellow users to put in some minimal effort to understand the complex machine they have bought.
But I'm glad you've got it solved and I hope you stick around to see what a nice community we actually have here.

Aren't all forums that provide information a form of customer service?
I submit that finding useful tips, tricks or even just fun ways of using our keyboards are all part of a customer's experience. Just because I am not REQUIRED to serve doesn't mean I don't choose to. And just because this isn't officially a Korg customer service forum doesn't mean we have to deny service.
I am included in the "everyone" who is here on my own free time and I have put in many hours learning this machine. And yes it is complex.
I was just unwilling to read the manual, which I don't own. My original post was an appeal for a small part of the manual that I didn't want to look for or dig through because I have already figured out most of the machine that I want to figure out at this point. I didn't realize that it was such an imposition. I am used to answering questions like this on a daily basis on many forums and about a variety of subjects. So again, I do apologize for my impolite and sarcastic replies.
I just prefer experiential learning. Which is why I have not only figured out almost all of the functions, but will likely remember them.
Not everyone learns the same way. There can be many sources of information other than the manual and my choice not to read it does not automatically make me lazy. Perhaps impatient or rebellious might be more accurate
