1 question,
Can you confirm that the highest quantize resolution is 32?
Can you turn off quantize off?
Really hope so as I don't like being locked into quantization, especially for weird wonky beats.
Edit: actually that turned into 2 questions

From the user manual:JulNC wrote:Damn, that was the main thing I wanted to know. No independent MIDI channels? In 2014? Seriously? I rate Korg as one of the best and most fun music companies but this is really disappointing. I think they've been aiming a bit too much at new "producers"...roblabs wrote:Yes that's correct with the older tribes. (at least I can confirm that for the EA, ES, ER. Never used the X series so don't know about those). On the EA-1, for example, you could set the midi channel for part 1 and 2 individually. You could even put them on the same channel if you wanted. It would be cool if you had this flexibility on the new one.
Well, that's 400 euros saved for another instrument I guess... too bad because this new Electribe looked like so much fun. I'm sure I wouldn't have been the only one using it as the brain of a setup.
If you play an external device from this system:
□ Have you set the same MIDI channel for the receiving device and for this system?

haha. Just saying really, i'm not precious about electronic gear. For the record i'm aware about the tb-3 & i know what sounds autehentic but i just don't care. From my point of view this new tribe should sound good at what it does but still have it's own charachter. I wouldn't expect it to sound like the old 303 in the same way that not any other synth has managed to fully emulate it yet. Hence, i'm way past giving a s**t weather it can do a 303. Damn, the debate always rears its head in these product releases 'YAWN'robosardine wrote:This was the question- and the answer (thank you once more Kilko for putting it up)- as evidenced by it and as previously stated is a resounding - no, it can't.hoolak wrote:Can you make the electribe sound like a TB-303? I want to hear it do acid! So jealous of you.
ps Dr I hope you and your s**t are getting on well together.... being a doctor I'm sure you will be aware- you don't want to be holding on to these things for too long. I am also a doctor and have written you a prescription- as a professional courtesy- for one TB-3 to be taken immediately.... that ought to shift it for you by the morning
If we can get into talking about what the new tribe can sound like , yeah, i'm enthused.
My current Korg gear. MS20 Mini... & now the .... Oh, maybe not !
...Had a few other Korg things over the years.

I understand that there is a Gate Arpeggiator feature in the new new Tribe.
In the Kaossilator Pro the Gate Arpeggiator has 2 specific perpetrators; Gate Time which really functions as a "wet to dry" mix of the legato effect and Gate Speed which gave specific ranges speed where the sound is heard from a 1/4 note to 1/8 note intervals.
My questions regarding the Electribes Gate Arpeggiator is there are way to change the speed of the legato ranging from "no legato" to 1/4 to 1/8 intervals?
Is there a "wet / dry" setting the controls the impact to the sound of the Gate Areggiator?
If non of these are possible or relevant to the functionality of the Electribes Gart Arp, can you tell us more about how the Gate Arp works?
Thanks!

regarding the parts...the idea we were all sold on is that you can have anything you want in any of the parts. If you want all synths, no problem. All drums, easy. This is good.
But I was wondering if you could do a demo and test to see if you can have the same sound, on more than one part.
And for anther experiment...you can you set audio in to be a sound in more than one part. Lets say I want that audio in oscillator in all 16 parts but obviously with different effects. Can you try that experiment for us? I knwo it won't make much sense to you, but please give it a try.
Thanks!

Yes.. quite.... I think we all would be happier doing that................. unfortunately we can't- because only one person here has one- and the poor guy is snowed under with a pile of questions that would fill a Christmas stocking.DrHoo wrote: If we can get into talking about what the new tribe can sound like , yeah, i'm enthused.
Unless you want to talk about the sounds on the videos that have been put up- then you will be waiting till around mid December. In the meantime having a bit of banter about what we are supposing (arbitrary or otherwise) seems to me to be quite feasible. Sorry if this has caused any fatigue. Anyone is of course free to open an interesting topic for discussion.
Strangely enough- we were actually talking about what it can/ can't sound like- given the absence of actually having one.
Here are my thoughts on the the types of questions vs the amount of questions Kilko is being asked.
Honestly if I had this unit early like Kilko I would only be addressing questions related to functionality. We can already hear how the unit sounds quite clearly on the youtube videos...combine that with what we can read about the parameters, it's a pretty good guess that any sound, you may a question about creating, is probably going to be yes. However it all depends on skill level, experience and most of all functionality of the unit.
Those of us with good experience performing in this type of gear, we can make any sounds we want...TB-3, tr-303, 808, 909, acid, old dubstep, new dubstep, skrillex, deadmou5, Bassnector...even trap (which is brain dead easy). But most importantly learning to create your OWN sounds is the real goal.
This is why questions on functionality of the unit (over sounds) are the most important questions. It would be better to know HOW we can make the sounds stuck our heads, or you wish to mimic.
I have seen a few good questions a midi functionality, parameters on the ifx and mfx. I have posted a few about how the Gate Arpeggiator works and how many of the same sound and same sound source we can have. But I know there are more on functionality on the unit. Hey I got a new one just now...what exactly does the new update do to or for the Electribe?
So my recommendation to help make Kilko manage is time better so he is not buried under questions is limit the interest to only questions about how we can make the sounds we want...functionality questions.

SMK,
Here is what the update does :
http://www.korg.com/jp/news/2014/1107/
It looks like better pattern changing, improved Audio Export, Shift shortcuts, and minor bug fixes.

Oh I know about this but I'd rather hear it from Kilko himself. I feel that the poor translation leads to believe what we want instead of what it really is.roblabs wrote:SMK,

Since Kilko installed the new update yet he posted the followign regarding the gap issue
This leads me to believe the update is for something else and does not solve the "Gap" issue. I would like to know what that something else is.Kilko wrote: Update 4: "Gap between patterns" - UPDATE!!
I think I was little too fast here. "Lost in translation". The answer is that there IS a GAP between the patterns. This means that a delay-effect from pattern 1 will not overlap to pattern 2. I guess the best thing is to just make 1 big pattern or overlap on parts where there aren't too many effects going on at the end of the 1st pattern.
