i think you have to have your korg service center do the replacement. that would be my first phone call.

I think you'd have more luck checking with Korg directly.MR.K wrote:I like to know where I can find a new motherboard for my Kronos X 73 and If there's a replacement or a new version of the MB.?

Mr. K. That is a very good question. I also purchased a motherboard shortly after I got My Kronos X. I wanted a spare, just in case. Whether you can install it, connect all cables, install the OS and have it bootup and run correctly seems to be the elusive unanswered question here. If the bios is, in deed, proprietary; then you may have a problem. The only way to find out is to install it and see what happens. Also you have the calibration issue to deal with. If you are under warranty you should do it through the service center. If it is not, then give it a go and let us all know how it turns out. I know in the older Triton series you could replace the floppy drive from one from a computer. But, then the Kronos is no Triton. It is totally a different animal. I think in the long run if you use your Kronos a lot, have Korg do it. Even if it cost a bit of change. A half working keyboard is not a keyboard at all. Good luck on your quest.

i would not be comfortable pulling out the mobo on my Kronos.MR.K wrote:I found it on a computer shop my main question is if I buy it and install it may work without nothing else?
Is there a chance you could do further damage , without knowing what your exact skills are ?
The custom bios ( as we read somewhere) determination really is your first step, IMO

Dumb question. If Korg are replacing the Motherboard with a different variant if the old one is no longer in production, would they not fit a new one? (assuming the surrounding hardware does not change?)

This is the first "official" info from a Korg source about the Intel D510MB motherboard in the KRONOS, that there's no customized BIOS or anything else...you can still find them on eBay - last year I bought one new-in-the-box as a spare for about $40, and there are a few currently listed for under $100...be sure you get a genuine Intel D510MB motherboard, there are a few listed from other manufacturers that use the same Intel D510 processor but are not the same motherboard...
