For me, the whole thing about Electribes is their immediacy. You throw your lot in with Korg's know-how, trusting their experience to provide you with just enough options and parameters that strike the balance between flexibility/power and ease of use. I could be misjudging the new unit completely, but i'm not expecting it to do everything and i'm sure i'll be wanting it to do things that it can't do. But i'm pretty certain that it'll sound fab and once i've had the pleasure of learning it, it'll just be a whole heap of fun to make music on. I got into the whole Electribe thing through the ipad versions, and if anybody wants some limitations imposed on them then they should go check them out. But i swear, whenever my head gets too far up my arse making music, i take those little apps out for a ride and it's just FUN. Or if i want to get a bunch of random, disconnected samples quickly working together, nothing does it better, or quicker (for me) than my esx-1. I'm putting my neck out here and running for cover, but hooking these things up and expecting them to be the "brain" of a studio... that's missing the point i think. But hey, different strokes for different folks eh? Anyone?....
If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

Volca Sample, FM, Beats, Kick. OP-1, Monologue, Pocket Operators. And an ipad.

I definitely am with you, apapdop. As Buska said, I'm a glass half full guy, and I suspect you are, too. You can't expect these things to do everything, no doubt. I'm just hoping to integrate them into my current set up and make the most out of them. But really why I want this new electribe is to consolidate and minimize my live rig. As long as this can perform this function well (and I do have confidence that it will because every electribe thus far has been about performance and immediacy), I'll be happy with it, despite its shortcomings.

The not having 8 bars with it is killing me on this. It's my show stopper for sure as I knew it would be. Anyone that is a keyboard player will see there is no way to have a long evolving sequence unless you break up your note input. Sorry but the 4 bar movements are not cutting it for me.

What about getting to grips with the event recorder ? I know it's not song mode but perhaps keyboard players could record some interesting & longer stuff with it.... Perhaps.
