Another vocoder thread- Daft Punk

Is there any way to use the vocoder in a daft punk harder better faster stronger way? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAjR4_CbPpQ
My band is trying to incorporate more vocoding in relation to our intergalactic themes... Problem is our engineer is asking for some daft punk style vocoding and I absolutely want to use the kronos for it so i can pull it off live...

Hate to be negative, but unless Korg upgrades it, Daft Punk vocoder/talkbox stuff is never gonna happen with the Kronos (1 band?) Vocoder. For all but the most basic things, it sucks pretty hard.

I mysekf don't really know but I think I would be using a ton of compression before and after the vocoder to try and get close.
I've also hear that it works best if you speak and don't sing into the mic.

The Kronos vocoder is adaptive multiband if I remember Dan's comments correctly. You just can't adjust them yourself.

Yes, definitely, speaking and using exaggerated pronunciation helps, as does compression/gating. I haven't been able to get true Daft Punk style stuff either though. Then again, there's a reason they're famous for that sound, and I bet they're not getting it by twiddling with a Kronos for half an afternoon.

Gotta say, still wish Korg could upgrade this to at least a 16 band so I can ditch my Motif!

I use a cool trick for the "Get Lucky" Vocoder. The band always does it in the same key so I recorded a vocoder in Logic and tried to get it sounding as close as possible to the record (a bit brighter to cut live) then I sliced the samples and assigned each syllable to a key in ascending order. this way you can play a chromatic scale ascending and it doesn't matter if the band drifts in tempo. Its like playing drum pad one shots on the keys. This is also fun because you can start messing with the pitch bend and repeat different notes rhythmically to create a live glitching effect. Works really well. If a singer wants to do it in a different key you can pitch shift the samples.
It cuts really well live and i always see people in the audience looking around like "Who is doing that?!"
I do it on the nord stage 2 but i know its easy to do on the kronos. Even easier because you can just import one wav file and splice away right on the Kronos.

and the patches worked fine when playing "Get lucky" or "Black saturday" (Mando Diao) with a Coverband...
