Ableton Live and Electribe Music Production Station
Hi, newbie purchaser of the new Electribe Music Production Station. I have hooked up the USB to my Ableton Live (no other cables) and I'm trying to workout how to sync. I have it so that when I am in playback on the device I can see the little VU LEDS bouncing around on Ableton but I cannot hear anything and I cannot see the tracks. That should work right?
Thanks for any help

If you save your tracks to your pc as wav files (maybe using Audacity to trim them etc)- Ableton will see them- in the box to the left. You can then drop them on to your tracks. Then you can play/ compose them (launch your clips is the term I think) all your stuff without the need for your Electribe to be present. I'm pretty sure that the new Electribe will also export them straight to Ableton. But yes you need to say whether you want to a)Play Ableton alongside your Electribe or b) Get Ableton to play your Electribe or c) Play your creations made on the Electribe just on Ableton. All of which are possible.

Korg products require a driver to be installed if you want to use MIDI through the USB port. Sometimes it's included on a disc, other times it can only be downloaded from their website. Unfortunately, neither the English or Japan website has a new one up yet. The most recent driver they have is "Version 1.15 r2" which was last updated on April 25, 2014. I'm sure a new one will be up soon.
Roland Juno-60, SH-101, TR-606, MC-505, Casio CZ-101, Yamaha DX100, DX11, Kawai R-50e // Korg R3, microSTATION, Monotribe, MS-20 Mini, SQ-1, minilogue, electribe sampler, Volca series: Bass, Keys, Beats, Sample, FM, Kick, Moog Theremin
You have to put a VST plugin on the channel you want to hear something. If you see those "LEDs" flashing in Ableton then you're receiving midi data. Just throw a synth plugin on that channel and you should hear something.
Korg Gear: Electribe ES-1 MKII, Electribe 2
Korg Gear I had: Electribe MX & ES-1, Kaoss Pad 2
Other stuff: Ableton Live 8, SP-303, M-Audio Mixtrack Pro, M-Audio M-Track

You mean as a basic midi controller?
I just tried and most of the controls seem to transmit MIDI. All the trigger pads do, the touchpad does, all the smaller knobs do, and the Filter cutoff knob does as well.
The larger OSC, Mod, and INS FX knobs do not.
So yeah, there's some room for custom mapping there with Live

I dont think the tribe supports audio over USB (kinda remember hearing mistabishi say that but i dont have a cable to test).
The audio output of the tribe plays the master track. So that's all ableton hears. If you have Ableton record the 'line-in' with the tribe connected to the same you can obviously only record the master (and mine is noisy as when i hit record).
To have the pattern split up into its parts you can export a .als that has the parts as .wavs in individual tracks but it just exports the part as you have it saved (I dunno about motion sequences, I'll try tmrrw).

I foiund importing into Ableton via memory card very simple. Just dragging the Ableton Set .als file from memory card and dropping into Ableton.
Work a treat

If you're new to Live, it comes with a bunch of lessons built in that will get you up to spend quicker:

I never really thought of that as I hired best restaurant and live music bar nyc for my party. It was a small and casual get-together and that’s why there were no dressing bars.
