Legacy Plugins seems to be outdated using new Garageband

Post by diobosco »

Hi

I bought the whole legacy bundle two days ago. Now, I experience problems using the plugins of legacy (MS-20, Polysix, et al.) in Garageband (10.0.3) running under newest OSX Yosemite (10.10.1).

I pick under Plugins -> AU Instruments -> Korg -> MS-20 -> Stereo and get the message box that this plugin cannot be used and possibly needs to be upgraded. Date of the AU component MS-20.component and MS-20FX.component (in Library / Audio / Plug-Ins is March 4, 2013). Version according to info.plist file of the component package is 1.3.0 for ms20 and ms20fx.

Other third party components are running fine.

Stand-Alone versions of this Programs are running smoothly. Please help me if you can. It drives me crazy.

Thanks a lot.

In mean time I have found it out and would like to share it in case somebody else experience the same issue.

According to an article on the support page of Korg (https://support.korguser.net/hc/en-us/a ... ageBand-10)
you need to open Terminal in OSX and paste in the following command:

ln -s ~/Library/Application\ Support/KORG ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Application\ Support/

For me this did the trick.

Thanks

Korg Legacy Collection in The New Garage Band.

What about MDE-X, were you able to get it to work? I used the same terminal command to get all the synths to work. I know MDE-X is not a synth, but how did you get it to work in Garage Band?

As you know MDE-X is not an instrument but an effect. So in GB you should find it it under effect / compressor.

After your message I tried it out for the first time but without success. I found out it was an authorization problem. I registered my bought copy with Korg User Net first and then ran MDE-X Authorizer (on my Mac the program is located in Library / Application Support / KORG / KORG Legacy). After I activated the MDE-X with my license code I restarted GB and voila it worked as well.

I hope this will fix your problem as well. good luck!

Hi Diobosco,

Please explain what you meant by 'running' the MDE-X Authorizer. I did not see it anywhere within my Library Folder under 'KORG', though it is registered and authorized for sure. When I run it, what am I supposed to see? Once I get my MDE-X effect to work in Garage Band, I'm home free. If not, I suppose I'll just have to pay someone to come in and do it for me.

Thanks in advance for your help and patience!

Hi Asher,

When I bought the KORG Legacy software I first needed to register the programs at http://www.korguser.net/ in order to get an authorization code. There I had to register, enter the license key, etc. In return I received this authorization code. Once I had this authorization code I needed to enter this authorization code in order to activate the MDE-X component.

For this purpose I have this program called MDE-X Authorizer. It was installed as part of the KORG software installation. Now where is this MDE-X authorizer program? On my Mac this program was installed at Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/KORG/KORG Legacy.

BTW: in this directory I have other Authorizer programs from KORG as well (e.g. M1 Authorizer, MS-20 Authorizer, Polysix Authorizer, etc.) Please have a look whether you have this as well. If you have it run the MDE-X authorizer as described in my last post.

If you don't have the authorizer I propose that you reinstall the MDE-X software again which should copy this authorizer to the KORG Legacy directory. I hope this helps.

Good Luck!

Best

Thanks Diobosco,

There apparently is something different about my KORG Legacy Bundle setup, as I don't have such a folder named 'KORG LEGACY' in my Applications Support Folder in Library under KORG. Yet all (6) synths from that collection work just fine in GB and on their own. And this was the free bundle which included MDE-X. In fact there were no authorizor programs for any of these found anywhere on my MacBook Pro.

I couldn't get the lock code to come up when trying top re-register, but thanks again for your help. If you have a revelation about how I might resolve my unique MDE-X dilemma feel free to PM me at your convenience.

Best,

Asher

Legacy Cell, MS 20 & Polysix not showing up

Post by mjammer »

Legacy Cell, MS 20 & Polysix - These are not showing up in garage band 10.
Know why?

The Wavestation, M1 and Monopoly are showing up though.
I'm happy for your help in having them in garage band. Great talents
