Electribe Worstation noticeable blank in between patterns
Hi all,
I'm a new user of Electribe, my first device is the latest Electribe Workstation released last month.
I notice a "blank" in between demo patterns of the same set like "Traveller 1 - 4", it sounds like the master effect is reprogrammed in between the patterns when changing them live, there is a discontinuity in the sound, is that an expected behavior of the Electribes in general or that is a problem with that latest model? Or is it a problem with these patterns in particular?

Are you on the latest firmware (1.03)? They improved pattern changing in that version...

It isn't the master fx either , it's the ins fx & i think the oscillators & mod Generator too, basically a program restart each pattern change. The master fx is aboutall that isn't reset.
My current Korg gear. MS20 Mini... & now the .... Oh, maybe not !
...Had a few other Korg things over the years.

Updated the firmware
Updating the firmware definitely helped. It is not perfect though.
Going up in the Traveler sequence 1 - 4 is better, but switching from Traveler 4 to Traveler 1 (which does not make much sense musically, I agree), I can hear a glitch with the 1.03 patch, that is new, I didn't hear that with 1.02...

I wonder if the sampler version will suffer as much from this problem? As it's only playing back samples, hopefully it can process the parameter changes more quickly?

This is another reason to return this box. All Electribes before this one could smoothly change patterns, no matter how busy/full the next pattern was.
It has more to do with laziness of programmers at Korg than a hardware limitation.
Very disappointing to see how bad Korg customer support is. A box marketed for live usage that can't reliably change patterns, pretty useless.

the way James Mistabishi Pullen was touting it at the various music expos, was that the E2 is an artists pallette, you mix your colours (patterns/sounds) on it, and then transfer to your canvas - Ableton.
I'm not sure Korg really intend that you use this in isolation, live, but you use Ableton Live, live.....
I don't want to fiddle about with a Mac, live, I want to play an instrument.....

Does Event Recording help with this issue?
Experiencing the same thing, like the effects being gated whenever the pattern is switched. I wonder if Event Recording can help since it sort of chains the patterns together?
^ Unfortunately not. Event recording doesn't undo the IFX and long release/decay sounds being abruptly broken off when changing a pattern. I really hope they can fix that long with the delay when patterns are "busy".
We shouldn't have to take into account that a delay won't carry over when changing patterns so only use a delay if the tail fits within your current bars. Some people say that this won't be addressed, if so mine will go back soon
The e2 has such nice tails when you stop a patterns, those should carry over to the next instead of being cut off. Would a shame if they underpowered it, my guess is on bad programming/cutting corners rather than a lack of hardware muscle.

I'm using it primarily as a drum machine, and we play lots of live synths over it, so I can live with it. But it doesn't make any sense, and one of the coolest things about older Electribes was how great your delay times would sound snapping to the setting of the next pattern. It will be a bad move on Korg's part if they don't give at least some kind of improvement through OS update.
It seems the list of basic requirements didn't start with reliable pattern changes and keeping things like effect tails going.
Instead of having 250 patterns maybe it could have been divided into banks/sets of patterns and parts, so it can preload stuff or whatever.
I've seen several owners of previous models state changing patterns is instant, no matter how much they differ.
A box sold as live tool needs to be reliable from the get go. What bugs me more is that Korg is totally silent on what they are planning to fix and more importantly, not fix.
If cutting off effect tails is expected behaviour it is pretty much useless as song builder/live tool and becomes a nice portable sketchpad not to be taken seriously as an instrument. Nice to get some ideas out and then import it in Ableton. Too bad I got mine to get away from the computer
