How many set lists do you use?
I was wondering how many set lists do you use? Or what is the minimum you would (ever) need?
For the poll I made, I use some possible reasons and not all ranges, wondering how you think about the number of set lists.
I ask it for a topic about PCG Tools:
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=63765. I'm intending to use some (like 40!) set lists for 'documentation usages', e.g. to show if programs/combis are being used by other combis/set list slots.

To answer my own question (just for your curiousity), I'm currently using about 20, copying normally per gig the previous one and adapt it. Eventually I will use probably 50 and remove older ones. Or maybe going to use all of them, but not necessarilly need the first 100
.
(especially not if my documentation idea will work).

I don't really know how to answer your poll.
Mostly, I use 1 and overwrite it from gig to gig. But, I usually only use one screen of 16 slots per gig. Most of my screens are in the first list. I left the first screen untouched and then scroll to the other screens for various sets.
But I have copied to new set lists and then adapted old lists for new gigs and I have started from scratch for the occasional gig as well.
I mostly use one list, two or three on occasion. I think the most I would ever need would be 4 or 5.

Thanks for the explanation ... I use about the same system as you, except I copy mostly by default the previous set list to a new set list for a new gig.danmusician wrote:I don't really know how to answer your poll.

I only use one set list. I play every week at church and we play around 5 or 6 songs. A number of songs use the same combi so the set list is used to show me the song list order and key of song etc. With the new colors I am using the red color to indicate the song has a track or a sequence.
I delete songs from the list that use a "standard" combi but keep the ones that use unique combi's. I have around 100 songs in the list. I may go over the limit into a second setlist but I try to keep it in one.

It looks like nobody is using all set lists ... maybe I will make some other use of it for some of them

I have about 15 lists that get modified and sometimes added too depending on my needs. I usually play 3 sets in a night so for that particular band I'll have 3 lists aligned so I just pedal through the whole night.
It all depends on the band. Some bands don't follow a pre-determined list so I have to be ble to find a sound that will work quickly. It's pretty much always Rock so I make sure that I have a piano and organ on each page.
I work a lot with one singer who is just way too lazy to sit done and write out a list for a show so I have to have standard sounds ready.

I am using about 20 currently
Some are for specific songs and others select specific sounds and possibly keyboard transpose (love OS 3.0.2!!!)
Color code new feature is excellent and so useful.
Cheers

I'm using just one right now - everything grouped by song name. I'm using SelistMaker on the iPad to send midi program change data to the Kronos. It's a lot easier to manipulate the setlist that way from week to week.
::: Korg Kronos 88 ::: Alesis Fusion 8HD ::: Kurzweil PC361 ::: Roland V-Synth ::: DSI Prophet 12 ::: DSI OB-6 ::: Korg Prophecy ::: Moog Micromoog ::: Yamaha CP-30 ::: Alesis Andromeda ::: Moog Sub37 ::: Sequential Prophet 600 ::: Korg MS2000BR ::: GSI Burn :::

I heard indeed good things about SetListMaker, another alternative is PCG Tools.
And yes, the set list colors are a great nice addition too (although I still haven't found the ultimate 'usage'.
However, since almost no-one uses all of the set list slots, I might use it for documentation purposes (storing information about program/combis in the set list slot descriptions).

As it is right now, my end goal is to have my Kronos 73, my King Korg and my iPad all inter connected in my rig.
I would eventually like to be able to change sounds using my footswitch and have my rig set up so that for whatever song or section of a particular song, I can have sounds controlled by which of the 2 keyboards would be best.
I prefer the Kronos organ sounds but I prefer to play them from the King Korg since it feels closer to an organ keyboard. I have sounds that I like on my iPad but the problem with it is that sometimes I want to use for example the Nave and at other times I want to use a different synth. If I use, say, a Wizdom app, I might want to play it from the touchscreen. Unfortunately , I can't change programs on my iPad remotely. At least I don't think I can yet.
I have done one gig back in the summer where I was using my KK and had it Midied to my Kronos and used it for organ sounds while I had another sound being played with my left hand on my Kronos but that is not difficult midi work. The only thing I had to remember was to turn the KK's volume down before I played it using a Kronos organ sound. This is just a simpe 2 channel combi. Even the Leslie sim worked.
I think I am going to have to find a way, probably using the USB, to have the Kronos; when I use my footswitch to advance to an organ sound; have the KK go to a silent or blank slot so that I can play Kronos organ from the KK.
As for my iPad dilema, well, only time will tell.
One set list per set. That's how I want it to be.
