PAN RULES

Post by richyrich »

HI can anyone help
when i'm creating combi's ive always centred the panning on all sounds because i only used a mono live setup,
Now i am full stereo live im thinking of panning some sounds but im not sure which ones i should pan left and right or just leave centred.

Is there a rule on this?

In Art rules are made to be broken but effectively some rules still exist in the mixing process. For exemple the bass and the drums are often in the center (though some other percussions tracks can be put everywhere in the pan. Acoustic guitars are better doubled on the right and left, this gives "air" in the mix. But the big rule is freedom ! :D
trees are going fast.

I agree with kronosphere. You can have some fun experimenting and you may just fall on a fantastic split by luck. It's alot of fun that way.
