+ Minibrute (SE) vs. New electribe 2
Greetings tribe, this is my first official thread, and a former owner of the ES-1.
To get to the point, are there any Brute owners on here, and do you have any tips syncing the Electribe with the Mibrute through cv? If not syncing, is it possible to control the Minibrute's parameters, such as filter and pitch?
(Complete analog novice here)
Thanks in advance for any help, people of the night. Looking forward to stick my nose around these parts more often.
Here's some Minibrute specs:
MIDI i/o:
Furthermore, the LFO1 can also be synced to the Arpeggiator, allowing for rhythmic Filter, Pitch and Amp modulations that are always in sync.
USB In/Out:
Sequence MiniBrute directly from your computer’s DAW without needing a MIDI interface. you can use MiniBrute as a USB-MIDI controller and as a USB MIDI to CV converter: MiniBrute will transform the USB and MIDI incoming signals into CV Pitch Out and Gate Out, making it a great converter to control vintage synths from your computer or MIDI interface.
CV In/Out :
Chain MiniBrute to your vintage synthesizer, or modular, to get a beefier sound. Expand, control and sequence MiniBrute from your vintage equipment. Use MiniBrute to control your vintage synths (It conforms to the classic 1 Volt per Octave scaling system). Use MiniBrute as a MIDI to CV converter.
CV In/Out controls: Pitch, Filter, Amp
MIDI In/Out with 5 pin DIN connectors
USB MIDI In/Out
CV Gate source selector (Audio/Hold/Keyboard)
1/4” Audio Output and 1/4” Headphone Output
Full Function Arpeggiator:
4 modes of arpeggiation
4 octave range control
6 step divisions
6 Swing positions
Hold function
Tempo knob
Tap tempo
MIDI Sync
Rugged Aluminium enclosure
12V DC 1A power

when the tribe was announced i had my eye on it for my christmas gift, then when christmas came around and it was still not out for me here in canada, i figured id go with the minibrute, though before i had a chance to buy it the store i had reserved it in called me to tell me they got 2 units and i could grab one so i went with the tribe afterall.... im also curious to hear about tribe/brute syncing could be my next hardware purchase!
APC80 - kaoss pad quad - Launchpad - Launch control - an iPad Air 2 with a slew of useless gimmicky apps - electribe 2 free! - and future volca owner.
The MiniBrute is a totally analog synth.
All those knobs, such as filter cutoff are simple analog potentiometers. They are not digitally scanned, which is why there's no patch storage on the MiniBrute. You hear the sound that the knobs and sliders make. What You See Is What You Get.
The only digital control you have is basic MIDI note messages. So sending it a MIDI sequence will make the Brute play notes, but if you want to tweak the elements you have to do it yourself - including coming up with a "patch."
If you send a sequence from the electribe to the MiniBrute, there's no sync involved - it plays what you send it, which will be in time. And the electribe does not have CV outputs.
The Brute's sequencer can be synced via MIDI from the electribe, but the electribe's sequencer is better.

Is the sync out on Electribes the same as Volca beats?

Curious if you got this sorted out. I've got a microbrute with the same issue.awilx wrote:ok, got these hooked up via midi, with the esx 2 triggering the minibrute. the problem is, when i press the master fx button on the esx2, the minibrute stops recieving any midi ????????
