Dear PCG Tools uses,

Sorry for the inconvience, but a major bug has been fixed.

For all users wanting to use the list generator with non Korg Kronos PCG files, please install the latest version 2.5.1 at http://pcgtools.mkspace.nl

Kind regards,

Michel (Developer of PCG Tools)

If indeed Programs are moved location in the PCG, the programs used within the SNG file would ideally change accordingly.

I would not need any other functionality from a SNG file
What about this way released by stand-alone Application: 1. Load several SNG, several PCG to Open_Box - each file with own Open_Index
2. Double click on Open_Box SNG-line(SNG-file) show child-window where you link two PCG-file. 1 - original PCG, 2 - after SAVE-PCGTools (corrected PCG).
3. APP generate Compare_by_Name_List of Bank/Prog like it:
P.Name/ PCG1Name/ PCG2Name/ Type/
E.Piano 1/ I-A003/ U-BB120/ EXi/
Strings 1/ U-B008/ I-C016/ HD1/
4. Then you may agree or change Bank-Prog of any line
5. Click button Change_SNG
6. Save new (corrected) SNG

It looks to me like it needs quit some administration (to know the references from each SNG file and to manage the changes within the PCG files).

Dear Michel - you are right, you 'll be right after releasing this function in your great App, but now users need any way for... We'll wait.
Kind regards.

Now I read it again, I think I have misunderstood you a bit.
I thought your algorithm would be for me to implement in PCG Tools (but the architecture is probably a bit different), but you are writing about your stand alone application. It looks really good, I think a lot of other people would be very interesting to use it (next to PCG Tools).

As promised I would explain a new feature of the latest PCG Tools release, the Program Reference Relocator. Hope I don't make mistakes since I don't have the application at hand.

Suppose you want to change all references to one or more programs from combis or set list slots. This can happen in some situations:
- Using the new Kronos V3 PCG file which has a changed program layout
- You like another program better to be used and don't want to overwrite the original.
- You have moved programs but the combi or set lists have not changed (because they are in another PCG file).

To use this new feature, load a PCG file (with combis/set lists) and select the menu option (in the Tools menu).

When you put e.g. I-A->I-B as line in the Rules text box, it will change all combis/set list slots referencing to programs in I-A to I-B.
However, you can also say as rule I-A000->I-B010 ... meaning all references to program I-A000 will be relocated to I-B010. Also I-A000..050->I-B050..0100 is possible (doing 50 references at the same time).

I will make shortly a file that contains all rules to adapt programs from the V2 PCG file to the V3 PCG file and put it on my website.

Also note that you can use copy/paste by using identical names; this might also work in most cases already for changing from V2 to V3, or when you want to copy/paste and did not change names.

That's a very nice feature Michel. Thanks a lot.

Is there a way to list which multi-samples are used in programs and which ones are not used? I think a lot of people would like to have this feature if possible. Thanks.

Currently not but it is on the wish list, not on the least priority.
However, I learnt not to make any promises about when what feature will be made. However, lots of people like to have this, so it would be nice. On the other hand, for every synth model it is different and even within the Kronos series. Also probably it will not show sample names, but banks as numbers or GUIDs.

I just uploaded the file for the Program Reference changer in PCG Tools to use Kronos V2 (or older) combis/set lists with the new Kronos V3 programs layout. It can be found at http://pcgtools.mkspace.nl/download.php and it is called: KronosV2V3Rules.txt.

Would it be a nice idea to be able to categorize programs/combis in a different way, like a list of characteristics that can be switched on/off per program/combi.

Like
Program I-A000: loud, piano, acoustic, fast-attack, bright, ...
Program I-A001: soft, brass, trumpet, bright, ...

Of course you cannot see this information on the Kronos, but it can be shown in PCG Tools AND it can be used for filtering programs/combis.

The information can be stored in some set lists.

changing prog/combi in Set List Mode with PCG Tools

Post by ricorox »

Using PCG Tools, I cannot seem to change the patches assigned to any Set List slot. Is that normal? I can change the slot name, the description, the color and everything else except the sound/patch. For instance, A new Set List that is initialized has A-000 as the program and I can't seem to find a way to change it.

That's right, it is not implemented ... however I have good news, it will be in the next version of PCG Tools.

PCG Tools Translators request

Post by michelkeijzers »

Would you like to be a translator for PCG Tools? It only cost about one day, and afterwards about 15 minutes every few months on average. (One day is only for languages not currently translated at all).

No software skills are needed.

Of course you will get your name (and logo/link) name mentioned in the application like all others.
