Kronos vs Motif XF vs Integra 7 vs Fantom G
Hello my friends!
I decided to compare the basic sound of each of the 4 workstation in the exact same instrumental.
Everything was recorded digitally and i tried to be the most even possible in each one.
There is no external processing.
Further details are in the video description.
Check it out:

I noticed marginal differences..... But I'm listening from an ipad. I will play from my HS8s tonight and see if there's more of a difference.
The immediate differences I noticed were the drums crispness, synth thickness, organ cheeseyness, and the thin sound of the guitar line.
That may all the attributed to the patch selection though....

This is a comparisson with general keyboard sounds, and sure they all sound good (which was to be expected)
I would love to see a comparisson with some more other sounds, like orchestrall strings , brass and winds..
But, aside from that, it yet improves that you can these days choose a keyboard for its features and make sound a seccondary issue, as in the end they all sound good, and only the right set of features allows you to make your very own sound..
I still believe that with a combination of Kronos and Integra 7 your options are unlimmited in hardware..

These days I would prefer a comparison of their top 3 strengths where the board is ' better ' than the competing boards.
Lets say Roland Integra is fantastic with 'articulation' . Thats 1 ' strength' or a separator from the other 2 boards . Then, show off 3 different instruments for the Integra, followed thru with similar instruments of the Motif XF , then Kronos.
Then, find a specific strength of the Motif XF, demo that, follow thru with the comparisons.
(I am not sure why The Fantom G and Integra have to be compared in the O/p)
I think comparing a "basic sound" is not a clear comparison .
Clear comparison would be getting the most of each "big instrument" .
I've seen so many videos comparing a factory presets before making a decision what keyboard to buy.
Then finally got Kronos and after spending some time and tuning it's presets for myself..
I went out to play and compare all other monster keyboards (do they sound better)
Came back home , and realized once again that I made a best choice.

KronosX 88, RME HDSP 9652, Sennheiser HD600, Cubase AI6
The Fantom G sound set is pretty different from the integra supernatural one, wich is what i used.GregC wrote: (I am not sure why The Fantom G and Integra have to be compared in the O/p)
Even from the integra pcm one. Altough they derive from the xv line, the fantom g has an upgraded xv engine and its new patches are only available on the fantom g.

I have no preference based on your recording.Danextgen wrote:Thanks for all the comments.
I posted this on other forums and facebook groups and the responses are pretty interesting! The preferences are completely varied!
So, sonically wich one do you prefer?
Without a doubt, I prefer the Kronos because of its detailed quality, a more current sound set, more versatile with sample streaming and it sounds livelier to me.
The Motif, Roland sounds have been around for 8 or more years and are quite common. Since they are heavily used, they are not as interesting to me. But that's 1 factor, IMO.
