F*ck the gush.

Dr Hoo and the other guy - you may not agree with their mode of expression but both gave a damn detailed account of their encounters when there was literally nothing floating about. I am very thankful for their posts.

Check the manual?

Yeah, right.

It all adds up to the bank of information and knowledge and I think the sorority girls hazing society needs pull its head back in.
I tend to agree with you. For me as a potential buyer, the most informative posts tend to come from those who are pointing out faults in workflow and sound. It's also extremely helpful when current users post tracks/examples of what they're doing with a machine instead of constantly talking about how amazing it is. This is especially relevant when we're talking about the new tribe synth. Some people are calling it a "preset machine" while others praise it as "creative limitations." Without real world examples of complete tracks from users, it's hard to determine if it's fanboyism or truth.

An even better solution would be if Korg got the units out to music shops so I could demo a floor model, then I could decide on my own. But that ain't happening right now. So in the meantime, thanks for all the level-headed feedback on the unit :)

Some people are picky or just don't like certain gear and regret buying it.

Those are the people who are the most motivated to go to forums, feedback sections, YouTube comments, etc. Satisfied customers don't have a need to vent.

So if you're researching gear - any gear by any maker - go to the relevant forums. You'll soon discover that everything sucks! Or at best, people are sharply divided, so close your eyes and flip a coin.

King Korg, that flagship VA from our favorite gear-maker? I read the forums and learned it has cheap plastic parts, poor resale value, is generally a ripoff, is just a glorified stage piano with not enough knobs, and it's a dealbreaker with only 2-voice multi-timbrality. But worst of all? It sounds like a plugin! You read that right, the VA synth literally sounds like software that is running on a chip, you can just hear the math! Not analog! Gross!

Everything ever made has bad presets, sounds cold and thin unless you run it through a vintage tube preamp, can't do your signature sound, has sloppy envelopes, won't work with Live, and was bricked and returned to the store, and now you're out shipping cost.

Also, I learned that every piece of musical gear made in the last 20 years has wobbling surface mounted knobs, cheap build quality, and was made in a overseas factory in China by Chinese Slaves who are paid pennies a day, or maybe that was Chinese Robots that were made in Japan, so no wonder. Back In The Day (TM) gear was made like tanks right in your hometown, and sure the river ran green with radioactive slime - but damn it if your Octave Cat isn't still going strong! No wall warts and USB ports on that!

So, to review: Everything is horrible and is a complete waste of time, except Eurorack and some plugin you've never heard of.

If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

Volca Sample, FM, Beats, Kick. OP-1, Monologue, Pocket Operators. And an ipad.

People need to review more often. For better or worst.

We are all different and want different things so it helps to see any type of review, especially negative ones. I often find by reading a mix of reviews I can find individual parts that only apply to me (plus or minus). I will often find a negative review and go "Oh, that doesn't bother me, but it is good to know!"

The most important thing is INFORMATION so you can decide for oneself. No one is holding a gun to your head to make you buy or not buy anything!

So a big "thank you!" to anyone who takes time out of their lives to give an honest review!

P.S. I am still buying one based upon all the positive and negative reviews. I understand better of what to expect for me. Now, I still may not like it, but I have enough info to make a decision to give it an honest shot.

Yep, I'll take negative reviews over no reviews or positive ones that just say something like "love it, it's great", anyday.

You just have to filter out what is as anime whining, and what my be a deal breaker to some might not be for you.

Your VA doesn't sound like a real analog, you can hear the math? Wow, are you surprised douchebag, cuz it's a VA, it is math!

2 voice poly is a deal breaker for you? Ok, I just play mono lines but would like tails to overlap so I can live with it.

Electribe 2 has no way to motion sequence step edits. That's a deal breaker for me. And I don't care if someone made a software editor, I like electribes because you can get away from the computer to work on them.

So thanks for the reviews, and as I've said before if you love it great, I don't think it's for me. And also still holding out hope for the sampler to be mind blowing. Even if it is just as big a departure from the previous generations. I'm willing to asses it as what it is, and how it will fit with my style. So when people finally get their hands on it I hope everyone posts what they like, and don't like about it. Then I'll decide what is relevant to my workflow.

Carry on.

I'm pretty sure the way to motion sequence a step is by pressing record and twiddling knobs to your liking.

gsrosser1989 -you've jus given me an idea there.. Forgive me if I'm wrong but is it able to step jump to one 1/4 beat at a time and record motion sequence to that step only ,then move on and record the rest of step edits? Or set a part to one step only so step editing motion sequence is possible?

Ted I was not calling you a douchebag if that's what you think. Just making a comment about the silly things people say in their negative reviews, it was an example you posted about something someone said about the king korg, as I understood the post anyway. You didn't say it right so you're not the D bag.

Maybe my post was not clear in that, it was not an attack on you sir.

Perhaps you need an adult to explain my post to you? :D don't take that too seriously now ;)

I suppose I could have left d bag out of the post though, what use is name calling, even when it is a hypothetical person that supposedly said something blatantly stupid.

My point was people find some silly things to hate on and sometimes they have unrealistic expectations. I bet that guy couldn't tell a King korg from an analog synth in a full mix anyway.

Some negative points however are serious issues to some people. I was really excited for a new electribe, but as some things came out in reviews, much less so. 4 bars doesn't excite me. I use other gear with my electribe, I'd rather have 16 bars so I can do something else other than constantly change patterns....especially if patterns don't change smoothly/decay and fx tails cut abruptly. Others can live with 4 bars and no step editing, cool, so be it, I'm not trying to rain on your parade.

I must have been half asleep his morning, what I meant to say was there is no way to step edit motion sequences, like say I want step 1 to have cutoff at 16,step 5 at 64, step 9 at 32' and step 13 at 192. Also good for LFO speed on BPM sync, change between 1/4, 1/8, 16, etc on beat, hard to do by just recording knob twiddled, easy to do on the EMX in step edit mode. I asked tarekith to confirm that this was true and he said it was, which is unfortunate.

If there's a workaround that's cool but I still have no clue why they would take that feature out.

for the poster asking why people here post taht they are selling their tribe, personally I was super duper excited when i first got it. and i'm sure a lot of you know how enthusiastic i was in the begining adn tried my best to contribute to the community...

My decision to sell (which i dont consider a "bad" review, rather a personal choice based on personal preferences) was merely an add on to my contributions, giving my 2 cents as to where i'm at in my life with my music and how i felt after owning the tribe for a couple of months.

This weekend was another weekend where i really tried to push myself to love the tribe but i just can't get myself to do it so my decision to sell is final. and perhaps later on someone in a similar position i am in will read my posts and perhaps it will help them make the decision to either buy it or sell it.

just because someone is not satisfied with a product that you are satisfied with does't mean soneone is inferior to the other....

I posted about the departure of my electribe 2 bucause i was so relieved to get rid of it & i wanted to gloat.
Next someone will chime in with the old 'why post here any more then if you don't own one any more ?'...... Well, because i'm still gloating 8) !

I bet the sampler will be better but only because it's a sampler. Will i buy one ? Not on your life, i'm done with the current low end splurge from korg, the e2 was just the icing on the cake.
You either genuinely like the e2 & get something from it or don't (like i didn't) or are kidding yourself that it will ever be anything more with firmware updates because it won't.
My current Korg gear. MS20 Mini... & now the .... Oh, maybe not !
...Had a few other Korg things over the years.
