Defined nuance control

Post by dougmccu »

Can't seem to find programming access to this feature, or any reference in the Advanced Edit msnuals. Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance as usual.

The problem is that it isn't really any one thing and DHD (darn hard to define!)
Really a lot of it is about splashing some new words on the front panel and keeping ahead of Yamaha's Super Articulation and Roland's SuperNatural sounds.
It can be anything from adding some fret noises to a guitar or some breath sounds to a Sax. The sounds labelled as DNC will always have something extra (like a guitar body thump if you move the joystick down) but it is not always obvious what you are supposed to do - you just need to try different things.
As far as making your own DNC sounds -the good news is that Korg really do give you many options to trigger these effects (pedal, joystick, legato playing, staccato playing, assignable switches, velocity range, key-off velocity, afertouch). The bad news is that it gets rather complicated to make your own.
The starting point is looking at the Oscillator Trigger mode under the Menu, Basic, Osc Basic Tab.
Cheers,
John

I am sorry, bu you can not compare DNC with Yamaha SA2 voices and Roland Super naturall voices in nature... they are a combination of Sample and VL technollogy... which also makes them unprogrammable on both brands..

DNC is much more like Yamaha's SA1 voices (yes there is a huge difference between SA1 and SA2) but since as you describe players have all controll in creating their own Nuances and DNC voices from scratch, its all in the synth engine, as you describe and gives sound designers the freedom to create pretty much anything they want, with time and education and the right samples. And so setting, from a synth engine and sound designers point of view, way ahead of Roland and Yamaha..
