Post by chris-korg »

My new video shows a little modification that I did on my SQ-1 to improve its playability:

wow chris, that's brilliant.

tight for the fingers but way better than the little weeners - great how they are hollow and kind of amplify the light

Hey Chris, I have a question for you; those knobs are 6mm shaft right? I see other people quoting that same spec as well... I just received knobs that are also 6mm, but they don't fit for some reason, no matter how hard I try.

And I was really excited to share as I got what are apparently the last 18 Clear knobs in the world, literally (found 5 online stores that carried them, but all where sold out except for one store in the U.K.) They are pretty much the exact same size and shape as your knobs, but clear... baffled why they don't fit though.

As mentioned in my YT-Video I bought those:

they fit very nicely AND have a little screw included which I did not find anywhere else.

Thanks guys, I guess I was just wondering why my 6mm shaft, 15mm outer diameter knobs don't fit and yours does? Wondering if you had to drill out/widen the shaft (I know Chris you drilled it out for the light to shine through.)

Mine don't even fit on my littleBits even though they look like they should. It's as if they are actually 5.98mm instead of an even 6. And it's not worth sending all the way back to the U.K. for as cheap as they were, but I'm reluctant to spend anymore on getting a new/different set.

I was just hoping these would work as I have my first live performance a week from tomorrow and it would have been nice to have more tweak able knobs...

Anyway, here is a photo of the knobs I got (it was this particular model that was sold out everywhere) and where I got them from - https://www.coolcomponents.co.uk/clear- ... -knob.html

Speaking of mods has anyone taken one apart to see if anything is on the PCB that could be brought out?

Just curious. Though tbh I can't think of anything that would matter.

Hi,

the plastic material of the knobs is rather hard and brittle, using a drill leads to bits breaking off.

So this is the tool I used instead - Don't drill, mill!

And this is how my SQ-1 looks now: :D
