Anything the Volca Sample can do that new ES2 can't
Other than the obvious analogue isolator of course. I love the Volca Sample and just wanting basically a "big brother" version of it essentially. Looking through the manual and images it looks like the new Electribe Sampler should do the trick to my eyes, but I could be wrong. Any thoughts?

No parameter locks?! That is disappointing. Song mode I can live without. But parameter locks on the Volca is a great feature. Hopefully they'll add that with firmware maybe. I still probably will get the Electribe Sampler, but it won't be putting the Volca sampler out of business!Tom 62 wrote:The Volca sequencer supports parameter locks, the Electribe not.
It was easy on the previous electribes with step edit of motion sequences, though I've never used electron gear to compare I can't imagine it being much easier. Sadly I'm told that step editing of motion sequences was removed in the e2 lin. Can't fathom why.Tarekith wrote:You can sorta do it on the electribe too, you just motion sequence a knob and then set it to step quantize. Not as easy to dial in specific values as it is on say the elektron stuff, but pretty close.
I do hope it gets re-introduced. But i think you're right, you often ended up farting about editing the sequence values!!roblabs wrote:I guess they removed it to go with the whole "live performance" philosophy
If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

Well that's a shame if they think it wasn't useful for live performances. You could set it up so you could do live knob tweaks and have everything, or just key parameters snap back to certain values at the start of each bar or each 2 bars or 4 bars, etc. very useful feature for live, IMO.roblabs wrote:I guess they removed it to go with the whole "live performance" philosophy
Of course you set this up before hand, can't be mucking about actually doing the step editing during a show...

I'm for making the best box you can and let the people that play it apply their creatvity. Like the Volca Sample actually is a good example. I feel like it's packed with features, especially for what it is. Sure 4mb sample memory is low, but that's something I don't even think about. Whereas parameter locks I would miss. Anyway, I'd think this is all stuff Korg could fix with firmware. Hopefully they'll listen to their users.dutchcow wrote:Why does it have an Ableton Export function if its meant to be used live? It's not like you can export in the background and load it on your laptop whilst performing. It's a schizophrenic box really. No matter how Korg markets it.
