MicroKorg and step sequencer

Post by PBnJ »

Has anyone tried using the Arturia Beatstep sequencer or Korg's SQ-1 with the MicroKorg?

Any tips or comments are much appreciated!

Sorry, bro. Any sequencer like that is based around CV/Gate controls, which the MK (sadly) lacks. Your best bet is a MIDI-based sequencer.

The Beatstep does have midi out and should be an excellent pair with MK.
Haven't tried it though, but did speculate.
There is a new Beatstep pro for multi gear setups and more (probability generating) features.

My MK is MIDI'd to a Korg Microsampler.

Using the MS pattern sequencer with quantize I can save any MK noodle and play it back rhythmically perfect.

The MS isn't a step sequencer but I find this setup easier to use than a step sequencer. And I'm not a very good keyboard player.

(I also have a CZ-101 in the loop, btw. Boing!!!)
