WalMart is selling the new Electribes.

This pretty much tells me everything about where Korg's direction is regarding these new units vs the EMX/ESX. I think from now on I am not even going to refer to these as Electribes, but rather as the YoloTribe and the YoloTribe Sample-player.

Totally agree, a dumbed down version to appeal to the masses. Shame.

Did you see the part on the side where it says it's sold by and shipping from Sam Ash?

Wal Mart 'sells' all kinds of stuff through their 'Marketplace'. You're making it sound like they're stocking them in the check out aisles next to the 5 hour energy shots.

I guess we can make the same assumption about Novation, Moog, Nord, Teenage Engineering, Akai, Yamaha and Alesis, then?

Hey, what happens if some of this white-mans-magic-bad-juju gets into the hands of the sweaty, unwashed general public? Why... shock horror... some of them might actually make music with them!?!?! Even worse... some of it actually might be... good!?!?

This must never be allowed to happen.

As a side note, if i'm shopping in Asda next week and i stumble accross the Black Electribe down an aisle, it'll be going straight into my trolley, once i've elbowed aside the gaping-mouthed lowbrow hordes. No delivery charges and returns accepted with no questions asked on production of a valid receipt.
If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

Volca Sample, FM, Beats, Kick. OP-1, Monologue, Pocket Operators. And an ipad.

Ha! Totally busted, that's what I get for not doing my own research. I'm surprised to see Teenage Engineering on that list! ...Still I hold to my opinion, it's a downgrade in many respects to previous incarnations, and not as fully featured and performance oriented I thought when I started researching it.

Yeah, without doing any research I kind of had a feeling this was the case even before I posted. I still think it's funny. Enjoy your Yolotribe Samplooper.
