E2 save patterns to SD card

Post by Psychcowboy »

BTW, as for the many 'complaints' about the E2, my tech needs are maybe way less than most, but I am very happy with it, biggest improvements over the ER MKII --
a) sounds are awesome,
b) I like being able to choose a sound, kick/snare etc, and edit, rather than just move knobs to get to a kick sound,
c) part mute feature which allows you to drop or add a part with one button instead of two.

My two latest E2/Micron sketches:

Do you find the ER Mkii sounds not awesome?

extremely easy. just go into the data menu, make sure you have a formatted SD card inserted, and export your patterns.

e2 save

Post by Psychcowboy »

thx roblabs:

1. how important is it to do this, is the E2 capable of losing pattern data?
2. I suppose when formatting the SD card there is no risk of accidentally formatting the E2 back to factory presets?

ideally, the next version will USB to computer and then you can just store all your pattern data on your computer.

Thus far it seems pretty stable. As far as I know formattinbg the sd will not do anything to your saved data on the electribe.

Although you have to export patterns one at a time, it's actually a fairly quick process. I'd say it's usage is determinate on how quickly you're filling up your 250 slots, or if you're sharing patterns or simply backing things up frequently.

Right now I'm just rocking a 4gb card. For right now it's fine. Pattern data is quite small.

Really ? this is probably the first piece of equipment that CANNOT save the whole library of patterns at once. Meaning backup the machine if you know what I mean.
At least if they give us an option to save 32 patterns at once. Also I don't believe that if the pattern file exists on SD already that you'd get a warning that you're overwriting a saved pattern... am I wrong ?

The new sampler version has the option to save all the patterns in one go, so most of us are hopefully it'll be in the new electribe update too.

Defo should be updated. I take it it allows you to load all patterns back in one go as well.

Hopefully this would be the case then it would be so easy to load in whole sets.

Save 32 Patterns at once?

Post by Psychcowboy »

I will prob get an 8gig SD card. How does the 32 patterns at once work? I don't see it in the manual.

Also, what does the USB do? Ideally in future versions you can save pattern data right to your computer via USB, thx all.

Right now USB is only used to send midi data to and from the electribe.
