Which stereo studio monitors are you using?

Post by SDDP »

I am trying to find a suitable powered monitors for the Kronos.
I have tried the JBL LSR305 and didn't offer the punch and power I was looking for, so bumped up to the LSR 308 and they were much better especially for the price. But just were not cutting it. So finally bought KRK VXT 8 and using the JBL 310S of the sub.
And it's a world of a difference... HOWEVER there are some chords (mostly instrumental/orchestral sounds that have this odd unnatural harmonic distortion (at higher volumes) which is annoying.

I know the JBL LSR 6328/Focal SM9/Dynaudio BM15A would probably the perfect choice and forever speakers.

Would like to get your input and what others are using on the high end.

Thanks

I use Mackie HR824's. I run them flat and have nothing but positive for them.

I have KRK rp5 first series and they don't cut it. I do use the QSC K10 a lot they do well with the setting set to deep. I would like a sub of some sort but not a must for now. But the best sound I get form the Kronos is through my Behrdymnamics DT 880 pros 250ohm. The sound great and I can wear them for hours and hours without even noticing them. No ear fatigue or anything. But I do like the QSC almost as well.

Krk rp10-3 works great for me...

how would they sound in a 12x20 room? They seem as if they could be a bit lacking on bass.

i use yamaha hs8 monitorse downstairs in my studio. love love love.

if i want to go louder, much louder or bring the sound with me and theres no pa, i hook kronos up to two roland kc300s in stereo (stereo link). ive had them since my xp80 workstation days and they still kick it for many applications, havingmultiple inputs/outputs.
Love Kronos more every day!

My choice was the Yamaha Hs8's. They sound great. There are a lot of great high enders out there. But these do a nice job for me. I also have a Traynor stereo keyboard amp which is cool also.

Yamaha HS8's

I couldn't be happier.. these replaced Yahama NS10's from a long time ago.

The HS8's sound great, my Kronos never sounded better.
