Sample Manager for Electribe Sampler (OSX)
I have just released my OSX Sample Manager for the Electribe Sampler which you can purchase here https://itunes.apple.com/app/sample-man ... ls=1&mt=12.
I make a living of writing software so I have decided to charge money for this app.
FAQ:
- Due to App Store Sandbox restrictions you have to choose a directory for browsing first by clicking the "browse" button. You can choose a different root directory anytime.
- I have no plans to make this app a full fledged pattern editor.
Known issues: only samples in 44,100 hz sample rate will be played back at correct sample rate. I am working on it.
The next update will also feature a possibility to make a sample a loop sample.
A Windows version will come in some weeks time. It is nearly finished but I am not sure about how to distribute it.
In case of any issues please let me know: http://appification.de/?page=contactform
Have fun!

I have helped Spleen in his research materials for making this ES2 editor. Mant of us have. He's a legit member. I had no idea he was intending on making money off of the group. I do not believe that this was intended as "SPAM".
Spleen-
$12 is a bit much for an app that is experimental and in beta. It has not proved itself yet and really this is designed to help us with something Korg would not do. Even Single Cell offers a free Volca Sample solution for sampling from your phone and into the Volca Sampler. It's pretty damn advanced and looks great. BTW when you look at their DAW called Caustic, it does so much for $10! Just consider the economics of what your are doing. Try a donation version with this group instead. I'm going to guess that coming right out in front asking for money from the group is what most likely got your the "SPAM" flag from Dutchow. Sorry dude, he's actually right on this.

The other editor is free. I think they even opened the source up for everybody. So yes, I classify this post as spam. Nobody is asking for commercial advertisements. It is a perfect example of forum spam.
I assume there is a rule against commercial posts. If not, then it opens the door to everybody and their dog to post commercial advertisements here.
Korg could come with a free app for iOS as they did for the Volca anytime now. And there's the free editor too, runs on Java so will run on Mac, Windows and Linux. Paying $12 for this is silly.

If you prefer other people`s software which is free, just pass. There is nothing to see here. I am willing to pay for software and I want to get paid for writing software. It's that easy. If single cell is giving away their volca editor for free it's for marketing reasons.
I am giving away promo codes to the first 5 people which drop me a PM.

Although I do have an iPad, I hate that I cannot just connect to my PC and transfer data across without using iTunes, Dropbox etc...
It would mean i'd have to transfer samples to the iPad to then transfer to the ES2. I think i'll wait for the Windows version to try, cut out the middle man so to speak.
Thanks for this, I don't think there is a problem with someone asking for some remuneration for their efforts though, although people may be more inclined to pay half the price of it.

EMX-1, Electribe 2, Electribe Sampler, Korg iOS
What I see is spam. You're spamming a forum with commercial software (in beta even) whilst there are already editor 'projects' going on here. For both E2 and ES2, and they're both free and both open source.Spleen wrote:If you prefer other people`s software which is free, just pass. There is nothing to see here.
If we're talking about the same editor then Single Cell sold it to Korg, cuz it's free as free can get and owned/provided by Korg on iTunes. Fact remains nobody in their right mind will pay for this when there's free alternatives. What's the USP of your editor? Why should anyone buy it?
Maybe a moderator can give some clarity about advertising on this forum.

This is not really spam dutchcow, it clearly is related to Electribe and not clogging this forum.
Also it's his choice demanding a prize. Actually the app looks ok. Doesn't matter if the other one is free and
open source. Making software is hard btw.
(Btw. would it be weird if I asked for promo code ?

I guess my definition of spam differs. I find any commercial message that I didn't ask for spam. Unwanted commercial massages are spam in my book. It doesn't matter if one is a member or not.
A quick glance at his profile shows me he created 4 topics in total, 2 selling an app and 1 of them asking us to help him develop one of those paid apps, the fourth one is about samples.

Good to see someone tackling this! I think $12 is reasonable for a niche product. If you like it get it.
If you think it should be free, make your own iPad app.. It's not as easy as you think
Audioshare intergration would be very good for this app, as most all ios musicians use it to manage their samples. If you added that it would be much more powerful as a tool to use the iPad ecosystem with the ES2 without needing a computer at all.
Audioshare dev has a SDK for integrating into other apps, here's a link to said app :

If I ever get a ES2 and your app supports Audioshare I will buy it just to use the iPad as a sample source.

Buska, it is not an iPad app. It's a normal app for OSX.
I guess if you want to waste money on people that spam forums, go ahead. I rather use the free alternatives (and who says he didn't borrow any code?). Besides, the free ES2 editor runs on Java so it will work on Windows, OSX, Linux and any other platform that supports Java.
I see nothing special that would warrant spamming a forum with an app you made to make money. Besides, we already have 2 editors being worked on by forum members, totally free of charge. Open source even.

But I still think it's fine for him to charge for it, let the best app win. If the open source one is the best I will donate, if this is the best I will buy it.. Simple as that.
I believe in the right for people to ask money for their work, we as musicians would like to be paid for our art if we can, and I think the same goes for programmers. It is an artform in itself, and if this guy can produce something special with his skills then I think it's fine to ask money. IMHO
