Electribe Sampler 2 Paint Chipping?

Post by SMK »

If there is one defect I have ran into...and the only one, touch wood...is the black paint chipping off of the Electribe Sampler 2. It is pretty much around the edges. Makes my brand new box look like its been through a lot of wear.

Obviously this unit sounds great, very happy with it. But, it seems that the black paint was very cheap. It gets scratched up easily. This is the first time any of my gear looks aesthetically poor.

Anyone else experiencing this?

That's one to look out for...
If I'm not listening to music, or if I'm not making music, then I'm probably thinking about music.

Volca Sample, FM, Beats, Kick. OP-1, Monologue, Pocket Operators. And an ipad.

When did you purchase your E2S? Mine has been purchased in Germany mid July and I don't have any problems with the black paint.

Honestly NOTHING! I keep it in a padded case or I transport it in a padded Lap Top bag.

On the image where you see the side, that was just my (newly cut) finger nail barely grazing the edge.

Mine came from the very first batch that made it to the USA.

Take it apart and strip all the paint off of the zinc case.
Re-silkscreen the panel graphics.
Clearcoat the bare metal.
It will look much cooler.
Or keep as-is - it's like a future relic.

That looks like a bad paint job, I'd send it back under warranty IMO.

I think a polished (if zinc can be polished) bare metal case would look particularly badass. Especially with no printing, just using The Force to know which knob/button to reach for.

How about a crazy steampunk design, labeled with embossing tapes? :D Or something like the Gorillaz Edition of the iElectribe:

Style flip offers costum skins for E2. Not sure if edges are covered though:

It should have gone without saying that it's not to be tumble dried.
