Signal Path - M50 to DAW

I'm trying to go from the M50 to Mixcraft 6. Sometimes I'm able to play Mixcraft's sounds, sometimes not. Sometimes I get a box on the screen saying "Mixcraft has detected a new MIDI device"... sometimes not.

Is this my USB port, the driver (which I've had to install several times), or am I doing something wrong??

What is the path needed to hook these two together?

A couple of things to consider.

Is the same USB port being used every time the M50 is plugged into the computer? When a device is plugged into a previously unused USB port, the driver installation process needs to take place. The DAW may therefore see the M50 as a different device if it is plugged into another USB port. It is best to keep to the same port every time.

Check the USB cable and connectors are OK. Try a different cable.
