E2 Sound design - Bold Bass

Post by Padevil »

Hey guys,

I've been writing some deep house/pop music for a while, I am quite satisfied with what I extract from the E2, but I still think I haven't tailored the perfect bass (and this is very personal I know)... Generally I end up with a simple Saw, halfway closed LP filter, +filter envelope and low EQ on the effects sesh.

What are your thoughts on tailoring the perfect bass? :) Any mind blowing methods?

Been very happy with my E2, such a lovely machine... Btw this is my 2nd post. Hello to all :)

I struggle with getting the right bass tones on the electribe as well but one thing that has helped me a lot is layering. Consider copying your bass part to 2-3 parts and then using filters to carve out a bigger bass sound. I like to use one part for the low end, one for the middle tone of the bass and one for the high end. It sucks to have to devote more parts to it but it's worth it for the extra oomf that layering provides.

If you have the electribe sampler consider resampling your final bass line to a single part to free up room for more music.

I have found that the distortion effect is really good for making super thick bass. Even adding just a little.
