Global effects to override midi file level effects

Post by Roy.hewa »

My understanding is that, effects are saved with the midi file when a midi file is created on PA600. Then, when that midi file is played back whatever effects settings in 'Global' gets overridden.

Is there a way to do it the other way? I would like to set effects in 'Global' (or somewhere) and when midi files played back those effects get applied, discarding the effects saved in the midi file.

This way I don't have to edit each and every midi file to apply new effects.

Thanks in advance experts.. :)

I am talking about the effects that get applied to song play. I think it is the effects group A.

For example say I want to apply Reverb effect to all the songs that I play.

I'm afraid is no way to lock Effect setting, midi use both A and B group and is loading same time with midi file, at least what I know.

You can use the Global Reverb Offset found at GLOBAL > GENERAL CONTROLS > BASIC to add more reverb to whatever was originally set in your midi file.

You could use a DAW setup and play the midi file from the computer and it would sound whatever you have setup.

If one is familiar with SysEx-Handling, one can change values of the SysEx-strings in SMF-Header. If one always want to use sequenzer settings saved in globals for playing SMFs, better deletes all korg-specific sysex in SMF-headers (f0 42 7f 60 00 ... f7) with midi-software after last internal write-procedure.

If one uses DAW to play SMFs containing korgspecific SysEx-strings one also receives all track-, effect- and eq-settings via Midi-In controling ones Pa-keyboard, if one does not filter SysEx-commands inside SMFs that once was written with a Pa-keyboard.
kind regards
