microKorg as a controller with iPad

Post by soulsurfhb »

I just bought a microKorg and I want to use it as a controller with my iPad. I bought an iConnect MIDI connector which has a lightning connector to MIDI in/out. I'm using an app called Fretless Brass...the app recognizes the iConnect and I can then set the channel...which I don't know how to do for sure because I've never attempted to use MIDI before. Then on the microKorg I switched the knob to MIDI and twisted the Resonance knob till is says OFF. I have the MIDI in plugged into IN and the OUT plugged into OUT. I am not getting any sound. I tried switching the in/out and I was able to play the app on the iPad and hear the sound from the microKorg??...so that's not right. What am I doing wrong?!?!?!

Just to clarify, you're attempting to control sounds that are internal on the iPad?

If you're hearing the sounds from the MicroKorg, is your output/headphones plugged into the output on the MicroKorg as opposed to the output on the iPad?

The MIDI interface shouldn't be capable of transmitting the actual audio from the MK to the iPad– just midi messages.
